I think I heard somewhere that Muslims don’t consider themselves bound by any oaths other than those related to Islam — and that they consider it acceptable to take an oath with the intention of violating it.

Allah not only approves — he expects it.

I don't consider myself bound by any oaths other than those related to my God -- wouldn't take any others in the first place.
