Convenient that this comes out now. As I have said before, the real crime is the tax on cigarettes in NY. I don’t blame people for avoiding it.

Shaking down the business owners is more serious than selling cigarettes. I want to hear more about that.

Cigarettes are taxed everywhere, although it’s particularly high in NYC. However, the reason these cigarettes are “tax free” is that they’re stolen or smuggled in the first place, by the Mafia or jihadi groups, and that’s what arrests like this are meant to stop.

BTW, it’s not only cigarettes but even things like gasoline that are stolen and resold by these groups through vendors such as Garner.

also found it very strange this comes out now,incident dates from July- and some on tweettie were outraged that some called bs on this new development.

if Garner were a member,he wouldn’t be troubled.

Just a personal opinion, but I think there should be no taxes on alcohol, soft drinks, restaurant meals, tobacco, firearms, and ammunition. I also think the taxes on gasoline should be severely restricted.
