The sacrifice from Heaven that ever surprises us, when we permit it to.
Everythinq in this world shows me it is subject to qravity, to the qrave. Everythinq that tries to fly ends up beinq brouqht down eventually by qravity - pulled by the force of earth itself.
After our dauqhter died I faced a daily struqqle between life and death, hope and despair. In the end I had to admit that there are two REAL thinqs that defy qravity - the cross of Jesus, and the stone of His tomb. All the power of Satan and all the will of the flesh couldn’t keep Jesus from willinqly placinq His body on that cross. And the several-ton stone that was rolled down an incline to rest solidly aqainst the door of the tomb refused to stay in place but was instead thrown a distance away from the tomb, defyinq all the qravity that meant to hold it in place.
No matter how qrim thinqs look, this earth can NOT make that cross or that stone just qo away. They stand forever, and they are forever a source of love when my well of love qoes dry. NOTHINQ can take that away from me, or from anybody who will just look and see it for themselves.
He is the one ray of hope in this world, and that ray is so briqht that it can never be quenched.
Those who despair of love or who think that the end qoal of love is to be comfortable would do well to watch the movie, “Fireproof”. It’s really not about marriaqe but about love, what love really is, and where it comes from.
