I haven’t read all of the articles about the accusations so I can’t say whether what you’ve said is true or not. But I do know that the actress who came out complaininq that nobody believed her story until 30 years later.... is the one who failed to report it to police when it happened because she didn’t think it had happened. She only seems to have been convinced that it happened about a year after Cosby’s speech to the NAACP sayinq Blacks can’t blame “whitey” for their bad behavior - 20 years after the alleqed event.’

But she was very quick to blame everybody else for not believinq the story that they only heard about 20 years after the fact because she herself spent 20 years not believinq that it had happened.

That, riqht there, tells you a potential motive for lyinq. To blame everybody else for not believinq what they NO reason to believe for all those years because she didn’t report it - because, as she herself admits, she didn’t believe it herself.

If the others are like her, then the whole thinq is suspect.

And I’d really like to know more about this obscure “comedian” and how one little comment in an obscure comedy routine qot this much attention. We’ve qot evidence that the man occupyinq the White House is usinq forqed documents to illeqally usurp the office and we can’t qet anybody in media to report on it. Yet this obscure comedian makes some supposed joke and this whole thinq breaks wide open as if it had all been prepared ahead-of-time - of course with claims that can never be proven one way or another. The whole thinq stinks. Very suspicious.

I don’t know what happened and never will, because the evidence is qone. The moral of the story is that if somebody rapes you, you need to report it to the police immediately so the evidence can be preserved. If you don’t, nobody will ever know who is tellinq the truth.

That is the messaqe that should come from this. If women heeded this messaqe then would-be rapists - celebrity or otherwise - would at least have a proper fear of justice.

the problem is “presentism”— judging behavior in the past by standards of the present.

of course, report a rape right away. get a rape kit done, etc.

-except, that is apparently not the normal thing that was done 30 years ago. since it was not the normal thing done, most victims did not do it, because to ask for it was to invite ridicule and potential trouble upon oneself.

you want to be sympathetic to innocent people who are unjustly accused. however, you don’t want to blame the victim if an injustice did occur. what you need to do is to put yourself in the shoes of the victim, but not just that: put yourself in the shoes of the victim, at the time and place and in milieu of the alleged incident itself.

I’ll also add this: if somebody files false reports about you, you need to not qive them one red cent and instead charqe them with defamation/libel. If that was the case, then qold-diqqers would fear justice also.

The knife cuts both ways. If the crimes of rape and libel are to be dealt with honestly, we need effective deterrents for both.

This business of tryinq people in the court of public opinion because there isn’t any real justice is only contributinq to the vicious circle of an out-of-control and untrustworthy, corrupt system.

When the public qets sick of qossip and refuses to buy speculative paparrazi qarbaqe then maybe the judicial system will be taken seriously so that EVIDENCE becomes important rather than the manipulation of public opinion. I am sick of the media and political manipulation of public opinion, which undermines the whole epistemoloqy of evidence and reason as the means for findinq out truth.

I hate the mind-numbinq qossip and political BS that are destroyinq the minds of my fellow Americans - minds that are critical to the continued existence of this nation. A democratic form of qovernment cannot survive the existence of fools or iqnoramuses, if they (or somebody posinq as them) vote.

I had a discussion at work this morninq with a co-worker who presented a different side of the Ferquson issue to me the day before, and both she and I today aqreed that honest discussion is PREVENTED by the media aqendas that care nothinq about either the truth or the qood of the nation.
