Even if they did everything legally, it was still poorly done.
The police knew they were going to pick up this guy. They should have anticipated what was going to happen.
Smaller Leos have to be more forceful in getting large people to comply. If they had sent three hulking cops to arrest this 350 pound man I believe he would not have resisted. The guys, say 6'8", about 300 pounds each, and in very good condition would not have had to choke him, wrestle him to the ground and climb on top of him. IMHO
Really? What's your source?
So you’re saying they should keep a reserve of 6’ 8” police officers on hand for guys like this.
Okay. Thanks.
My take would be:
1. obey the law
2. if you choose not to, obey the officer that will site you
3. if you choose not to, expect to:
....a. be taken into custody
....b. if you resist this, you will be taken down force-ably
....c. if you are taken down force-ably, it may not turn out well
....d. there is a small chance a health condition you don’t know about might flare up
....e. it’s a possibility you won’t be around to complain about the outcome
....f. if you had complied along the way, you would have
The problem with your “send in some big guys” solution is that it’s just so sexist, doncha know.
Police departments can’t just hire men because they’re bigger, stronger, and physically capable of doing the job: they have to hire women too.
