Viable means a higher probability. Had it not been for fraud and corruption perpetrated by the Democrats, he may have indeed won. Of course if conservative votes had not been syphoned off by unviable candidates it would have been closer still. But I think the fraud and corruption was so pervasive that even that would not have cemented a victory.

Congratulations as far as Dewhurst goes, but the 4% of registered voters turnout played the bigger role in that defeat. Not being my Lieutenant Governor, I'm from Louisiana, I know nothing about him. However, I was glad that Ted Cruz beat him for the U.S. Senate.

In January 1986, Patrick attempted suicide by taking an overdose of Imipramine, an anti-depressant, and attempting to slash his right wrist. He was subsequently admitted to Spring Shadows Glen, a Houston psychiatric hospital, for severe depression.

I'm sorry to hear that whatever was troubling him so bad that he made that decision, but I understand how depression can cause that. Since that was the year that 5 area sports bars that he was a co-owner of failed, my guess is that was the trigger of his depression. Glad he failed in his attempt to commit suicide.

Patrick opposes abortion and supported Texas's "Mandatory Ultrasound Bill", a bill signed into law in May 2011 by Governor Perry, which requires women seeking abortion to have a sonogram of the fetus taken at least twenty-four hours before the abortion is performed.

Dan Patrick opposes abortion in cases of incest and rape. In January of 2014, when he was asked about exceptions to outlawing abortion, Patrick said, “The only exception would be if the life of the mother was truly in danger…but that is rare.

I applaud that for sure.

Patrick supports increasing the number of charter schools in the state of Texas.

Certainly agree with him there as most public schools are worthless.

Patrick is on record as determined to establish creationism into the public school curriculum in Texas, despite court rulings that such a policy would violate the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Patrick identifies the experience of his personal bankruptcy as having shaped his conservatism in fiscal policy. He took a negative and turned it into a positive, which is always good.

Questions later arose during the 2014 lieutenant governor's race about the immigration status of one of Patrick's employees, Miguel "Mike" Andrade. Patrick and Andrade offered different recollections about Andrade's employment. The matter was raised by one of Patrick's opponents, Jerry Patterson, who questioned Patrick's declared commitment to halt illegal immigration.

Patrick opposes illegal immigration, has expressed support for Arizona’s SB 1070 immigration enforcement law, and supports passing a similar law in Texas that would allow local law enforcement to ask lawfully-stopped individuals about their immigration status and would make it a state misdemeanor to be present in Texas as an illegal immigrant.

I guess we will see if he is really as against illegal immigration as he says he is. I do notice though he wants to charge them with a misdemeanor. Really? That doesn't sound too strong to me. Deportation is the correct course of action.

He is a Republican I notice, so is he less of a liberal than Dewhurst? I guess time will tell if you have practiced what I have been peaching or you got the conservative you thought you were getting.
