Rick Perry Ramps Up
Politico ^ | 11/28/14 | Kenneth P. Vogel

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is inviting hundreds of prominent Republican donors and policy experts to a series of gatherings next month that are intended to rebuild his damaged national brand and lay the foundation for a potential 2016 presidential campaign, fundraisers and organizers confirmed to POLITICO.

The small-group sessions kick off Tuesday and Wednesday in Austin with a pair of lunches and dinners held in the governor’s mansion wedged between policy briefings at the nearby office of Perry senior adviser Jeff Miller. In all, Perry’s team expects he will meet in person with more than 500 major donors and bundlers from around the country in December as well as a slew of operatives, Republican National Committee members and policy experts.

Perry’s intensive month of foundation-building comes as other prospective Republican presidential candidates – notably former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz – are engaging with the wealthy Texans who for years have been among the GOP’s most significant sources of cash. As the heir to a political dynasty with deep Texas ties, Bush in particular could seriously cut into Perry’s financial base. Bush over the last few months has met with major Texas donors...

“Ted Cruz could compete as well,” Lambert said of the junior senator from Texas. Cruz is a favorite of the conservative grassroots, but he has struggled to win over GOP establishment donors, who view him as an impractical ideologue.

“There will definitely be a difference in the donor base, but I think he’s right in the mix,” said Lambert, who praised Cruz and added, “It will be a tough decision.”

Neither is Cruz. Reagan was governor of Cali before becoming Pres. I like Cruz but don’t get the hero-worship. Let him accomplish something first instead of speechifying.

Neither is Cruz.

And I have never made a comparison between the two, either.

Reagan was governor of Cali before becoming Pres.

Yes, I know. He was my governor.

I like Cruz but don’t get the hero-worship.

I don't know anyone who considers him their hero; I know I don't. But he is a conservative, far more so than Rick Perry will ever be.

...”Many posturing as the moderate alternative to Ted Cruz”...

I can see them doing that.....Rick is a full fledged globalist so he’ll be favored since he’s already known....but he’s not real quick on his feet...Cruz would nail him without much effort in a debate.

....”given RINO Rick's long history of supporting both ILLEGAL aliens, taxpayer-funded subsidies for them, and labeling as heartless those who dare disagree, he is all about amnesty”.....

Well he has to be since he affords companies cheap labor on his border cities, which are thriving on both sides of the border. Perry will do whatever he needed to in keeping His southern border open and actively committed to building business statewide, and the revenues from these, as well as Internationally when the port there will be significant to the pipeline deliveries.

Whatever makes Texas business and corporate friendly he will do. Being a globalist regarding trade he cannot stand in any other way about amnesty....and those busineess and corporations will be funding his campaign.

That is just one of the reasons Perry favors the ILLEGAL hordes. I hear he also does so because he has a heart. :-P

His heart has nothing to do with it...Rick's totally about establishing revenue sources and to keep Texas on the map for being favorable to business. ....he's been consistently favorable to the entire border cities communities being built up and providing his southern border cheap employment for those businesses. With globalist, as Rick is, it doesn't matter where the employees come from or the nationalities as long as cheap labor is available for business and industry.

Got it! LOLOL...I just leave no room at all for what Ferguson did to itself and to the police who have maintained that community from destroying itself. As we have seen clearly...left to itself they destroy everything they can.

Text out of context is pretext. You need to read the paragraphs above your quote. He said they should get in the line like everyone else.

If I were president, my policy would be simple. First, secure the border. Second, build a crapload of detention centers along the southern border. Third, assist Mexico with the construction of immigration administrative offices IN MEXICO. Anyone here in the US illegally has one path towards citizenship. FROM MEXICO, they can apply for citizenship (along with everyone else). This will result in self-deportation.

Anyone caught here in the US after the border is secured, gets fingerprinted, deported and is NEVER allowed citizenship. A second illegal visit will cost them 5 years in prison, funded by MEXICO (or the country of origin) followed by deportation.

Perry has a few warts, but you cannot argue with success.

And he is not heartless. </s>
