The problem with that is if my home is “in the inner city” I have just as much right to protect myself and my family as any one in any other area.
In my opinion, his concept of the Second Amendment is a work in progress, especially the part about “shall not be infringed”. Unless he evolves in a demonstrable way, he is not ready for prime time. Maybe a term as Governor would be beneficial.

Similar to Ross Perot's position of wanting to go door to door in the black neighborhoods to confiscate the guns from black Texans.
Candidates who want to separate blacks and Americans who live in cities from the second amendment, are revealing a streak of dangerous internal nuttiness, a fatal flaw that should disqualify them from consideration.
Ben Carson sees rights as being given by the government to the people. What the government gives, the government can take away. According to Carson, living in what he determines to be a bad place is enough to lose all of your rights.
Ben Carson clearly doesn’t understand where rights come from (God), or that rights aren’t gifts of government largess.
I would never vote for someone like that - he is either willfully ignorant or is willing to suppresss the rights of the people for his own gain.
Either way, he’s bad news.
