The bizarre story of the refusal of British royals to visit Israel, while they are constantly in the Arab world, continues.
I wrote about this phenomenon here, last February, when Prince Charles visited Saudi Arabia. As I noted then, the Queen has never set foot in Israel and Prince Charles set foot there briefly only once, for the Rabin funeral.
By contrast, in just the month of November 2014 we found Prince Andrew and Prince Harry at what the Foreign Office must have considered a diplomatic necessity: the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Prince Andrew also visited Saudi Arabia (at the request of the Foreign Office, it was announced)...

Ironically, he returned to the UK at the same time as the British went to war with Israel, against Nasser, in 1956.
Thank you, many here feel they have to ignore or condone the two groups. I am strongly pro-Israel and a great Jewish admirer, they are an amazing people, their survival has been incredible at times. BUT I wont allow my admiration for 99.99% to ignore the actions of 0.01% who were nothing but fanatical murderers.
Deir is mired in controversy, I don’t want to start WW3, lol.
I am British, seeing Spitfires being show down is painful, lol. Probably so for any airplane lover.
Oh come on, Disraeli was a great man, but by the time of his birth, let alone premiership, we were the dominant force on earth, with a huge empire.
English beer is rubbish, but Scottish, Welsh and NI beer is good. Actually its not bad, its not all warm beer, drink real English ale, that’s the proper stuff. Not the mass produced. And no, we don’t all have bad teeth.
The British Lion still has teeth. Ask the 200 ISIS men killed by our SAS/SBS boys last week.
The British took on Palestine and as a Brit, I prefer to see us as a middleman stuck between two groups, each claiming exclusivity for the land. Perhaps the British didn’t get it all right, but would America or France or anyone have done any better?. I see us as piggy in the middle, pleasing nobody and hated by both sides.
British policy today is like everyone else, its to try and get a peace to that (what should be a) lovely part of the world. Peace between people. NOT actively against Israel.
Disraeli was indeed one of the greatest 19th century Prime Ministers. But to ascribe to him the main responsibility for the extraordinary growth in that century of the British Empire and global power, which were well under way before his relatively brief terms in office and continued for decades after his death, is rather a wild stretch. I haven't heard that one before: but at least it has the virtue of originality, unlike the all-too-familiar transatlantic caricatures of Britain with which this thread is liberally littered.
Members of the RF served against the Nazis, as disgusting as the support from Edward was, and it may have actually have been treasonous and cost British lives, the whole RF wasn’t Nazi-obsessed.
Naturalman1975 is a close friend of the Prince. I take exception to you calling him an anti-Semite, I think that’s a terrible and simply incorrect accusation. I know Naturalman will take greater exception.
He also wears the religious garb of any religious place he visits, why are you lot only obsessed when he wears Muslim garb?.
Othello Part II
The crazy has just given an interview from his secure hospital, as its the 40th anniversary this week.
...and the Six Day and Yom Kippur wars were won when the British Centurion tanks of Israel obliterated the Russian tanks of the opposition. So it goes...
The US has been Israel's main arms supplier for so long now, it tends to be forgotten that Britain and France fulfilled that role during the young state's first couple of decades.
The Hanoverians took the throne because of their Scottish lineage. George I’s grandmother, Elizabeth, was a Scottish Princess and the daughter of James VI of Scotland/James I of England and Ireland.
And?. It doesn’t make him either ‘pro-Muzzie’ as people here would say, or anti-Israeli. He’s basically a peace and love hippy at heart, and wants peace for humanity. Which all of us want. At worst, he is nieve.
Oh, he may be, but they aren’t.
My arse, they are hard left, I half-assume the journos there work in provided Che t-shirts. They may have been centre left once, not for many years.
I can’t imagine that shape shifting lizards would be able to walk upon holy ground.
