The reporter keeps carping on “also carrying insurance” as if that is some sort of reward that completely covers the cost of rebuilding, twice now. It doesn’t. Insurance very seldom makes a claimant whole after a loss. Then, there’s the loss of revenue while the business is closed, often for a lengthy period. Many small businesses cannot recover from the loss of revenue alone.
There is also a “civil unrest” provision in many insurance policies cancelling same when riots happen.
This is a standard tactic. To leftists, “they had insurance” is code for “well, they weren’t harmed because they had insurance, insurance companies are evil anyway, insurance payouts are free money and nothing bad *really* happened, so don’t complain.”
They don’t realize the reality of insurance - insurance companies never really get screwed, they just pass on the costs to their customers.
