Bob McCulloch’s pathetic prosecution of Darren Wilson
The Washington Post ^ | November 25, 2014 | Dana Milbank

Ferguson reminds us that we still have a race problem in America. But the face of this problem is not Darren Wilson’s. It’s Bob McCulloch’s.

Wilson, the Missouri police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager, is the target of most public ire. But no responsible person thought Wilson’s killing of Michael Brown was premeditated. Even if prosecutors tried him on lesser charges of involuntary manslaughter, they might well have come up empty – and most people would have accepted that result of a fair trial.

What causes the outrage, and the despair, is the joke of a grand-jury proceeding run under the auspices of McCulloch, the St. Louis County prosecutor. In September, I wrote that it appeared he wasn’t even trying to get an indictment; he had a long record of protecting police in such cases, and his decision not to recommend a specific charge to the grand jury essentially guaranteed there would be no indictment.

When McCulloch announced the inevitable result Monday night, he prefaced it by blaming the press and social media for whipping up emotions in the case with inaccurate information. He went on to ridicule witnesses who had given inconsistent testimony. He hid behind the grand jurors, as if he hadn’t orchestrated their decision with the finesse of conductor Christoph Eschenbach: “Anyone suggesting that somehow it’s just not a full and fair process is just unfair to these people” who “gave up their lives” to deliberate.....

What is this idiot talking about? Five specific charges were presented to the Grand Jury and they rejected them all.

The grand jury had a choice of murder, manslaughter, or no fault.

What kind of statement is that? Most of the public has ire towards Wilson? Wilson has more ire than the someone else who has some?

Not only is it poor reporting but is questionable English.

I thought that the District Attorney’s presentation was spectacular and he handled himself well! He is a good speaker and can handle himself while on his feet. He answered questions directly. Dim or pubbie, he did a good job.

Actually Missouri has 110 Republicans and 53 Democrates in its House of Representatives and in the Senate 24 Republicans and 9 Democrats. It also has a Republican Lt. Gov. Gov. Nixon ran as a moderate Democrat. One of our US Senators is Republican the other Democrat. Of our US House Representatives, 6 are Republican and 2 are Democrat.
The countryside is pretty conservative; HOWEVER the cities of St. Louis and Kansas City are overwhelmingly Democrat.

We don’t even have that problem. We have Obozo and Democrats and Media telling Black People they have a problem so often they believe it.

"They actually did try him on the lesser charges. Look it up."

NO they didn't - he wasn't indicted so he won't be tried on ANY charges because there won't be a trial. Granted, lesser charges were submitted to the GJ but that wasn't the point. The author said that had Wilson gone to trial on a lesser charge and been aquitted, then people would have accepted that. I pointed out, based on the Travon case, that had he gone to trial on a lesser charge and been aquitted we would have seen the same or even worse rioting.

Do tell, Dana.. how does a prosecutor’s affinity toward cops matter, so long as the grand jury gets all the evidence and hears all the testimony?

Dumba**ed liberal hack.

WTF?

So the guy got “No Bill” returned from 4 previous grand juries.

Is it his job to fabricate something or simply go with a lesser charge, for the mere purpose of getting an indictment?

I would suggest nothing would assuage the race hustlers.

What will he was going to happen no matter what the outcome.

It sounds to me like the liberals and race baiters pick very poor cases

I think they grasp at every possible case in an effort to prove that their narrative of the "white guy oppressing and killing the black guy" can be kept alive. I will not say that there is no discrimmination . . . there is. But cases of white people killing black folks just because they are black are pretty much non-existent these days.

These days, blacks get jacked up by the police because of their own disrespectful and lawless attitudes . . . attitudes which are intentionally cultivated and fomented by the Democratic Party and their race-baiting civil rights and media co-conspirators. Blacks just need to understand that they are being played like a banjo string in order to ensure that they continue to be kept on the oppressive "big government" plantation.

Yeah, right - especially the race pimps and the blood crazed blacks they keep stirred up.

Sort of like the way they accepted the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the Saint Trayvon trial.

I demand that Dana Milbank, Crump/Parker, Al Sharpton, et al., STFU until they:
1) Cite exactly what crimes they believe Wilson committed;
2) Present a rational case proving Wilson committed those crimes, citing real evidence (i.e., proved lies don’t count).
3) Show that Wilson has no reasonable defense against the charges.

That would quiet them down for a long time, since this is about emotional manipulation for political and commercial purposes.

Is it his job to seek an indictment in every instance or is it his job to seek justice?

He made it very clear last night that he was seeking justice.

If McCulloch had recommended a specific charge, the Left would have accused him of tampering and manipulating the jury into accepting his own view.
