The modern portrayal of Thanksgiving is filled with historical inaccuracies based on a consumer culture, according to a professor at Portland State University.
Speaking at California State University at Fresno last week, Dr. Cornel Pewewardy gave a lecture to students titled How the Grinch Stole Thanksgiving. Pewewardy spoke about the historical and cultural implications of the holiday.
Like other holidays, including Christmas and Columbus Day, Thanksgiving is not based on historical accuracy, but rather on the importance and prevalence of maintaining a consumer culture, Pewewardy, who is a member of both the Comanche and Kiowa tribes, said on Tuesday.

Heap big libtard think-um paleface should say sorry to red brothers for Thanksgiving ... and send-um more wampum to reservation ... and change-um name of football team in chief town ...
“The modern portrayal of Thanksgiving is filled with historical inaccuracies based on a consumer culture”
To an extent, isn’t that true of pretty much every major holiday?
I brought a part-Indian friend to our family Thanksgiving two years ago.
There was no discussion of grievances. He said, “pass the turkey.”
Dear American Indians,
I am sorry that the white man came and pulled you out of the Stone Age.
Sincerely,
(Who should sign this? Is this a general white guilt thing or do we each apologize one at a time?)
Lest there be any confusion, this is not a photo of Caitlin Grimes. She is a (rather attractive) young student devoted to exposing this leftist crap. from the website:
” As a Campus Correspondent, Caitlin exposes liberal bias and abuses at West Virginia colleges and universities . She is a senior studying political science at Marshall University, plans on pursuing a masters in mass communications, and also serves on the executive branch of her student government.”
Guns beat arrows.
In the spirit of the Thanksgiving I am encouraging people to punch out a progressive college professor. /sarc
Dear Elizabeth Warren, I'm sorry you so ugly.
:^)
Yes, let us go back to the days when there were no Europeans in the country... when Indian tribes slaughtered other Indian tribes, took slaves, and took their lands with no remorse. Wonderful days.
Granted they were composed of 100 men only, so perhaps the Indians thought they were after their woman. But I think the real reason they were all men was because no woman wanted to go.
Saying that Thanksgiving is based on the importance and prevalence of maintaining a consumer culture, is a big, unsupported assertion. It appears to be his heavily biased opinion.
In 1621 colonists in New England gave communal thanks and praise to God for his abundant mercies and blessings. They were aware that they could not have survived their first year without the help of God. Help came through the Indians.
This communal thanks became a tradition. In 1863 Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed a legal holiday. We ask that each persons gratitude to God may bear fruit in loving service to neighbors.
That is what Thanksgiving is about Pewewardy, thanks to our ancestors, yours and mine, and an inspiration to continue loving service to our neighbors.
I know someone who started spouting similar idiocy on Thanksgiving. Boy did I have fun making her feel like a fool. She could not get out of the room fast enough. That was one of the best Thanksgivings I ever had.
Can this academic genius tell us about any celebrations in any culture around the world that do not involve feasting?
Push-the-consumer-agenda idiot. Repeat the mantra, repeat the mantra.
Maybe Ted Nugent will do the honors.
Dear Indians: sorry we plunged you into the best country ever. We will immediately cut the funding for all reparations and force you to stop being the permanent welfare state!!
Him heap screwball.
IIRC, when the Plymouth colony ended its socialist experiment & gave each family their own plot of land to till, “the earth brought forth in heaps” and a brisk barter economy grew up among Pilgrims & the local Indians. The settlers traded food for furs & exported these back to England to begin paying off their debts.
When war did break out between whites & Indians, the latter were already highly skilled in warfighting. Where did they learn that from?
How the Grinch Stole Thanksgiving.
By Professor Grinch.
With tuition at Portland State being $23K in-state and $35K out-of-state, I’m sure this prof has a nice salary. Ahh, the evils of commercialism........
