Garv, I am praying for you, and will continue to do so. Use a free-access computer at the nearest library and look up the nearest offices of Catholic Charities, and Lutheran Social Services. They are great experts on aid and services, including available jobs in some locations. You need not be of either, or any religion. Also check out Angel Food Ministries to see if there is a location near you.
People are so generous at this time of year. Food, clothing and other donations abound. Scan your local paper while at the library to see what is going on in your locale to help those down on their luck. There are food pantries that let you shop for your needs, no questions asked.
Track down where Thanksgiving dinners are being served. Your hearts will be filled, along with your stomachs. Talk with people to learn of other resources that will help you. At our lowest times, God will reveal his abundance.
If you have school-aged children, register today for free/reduced price lunch services. The school social worker, counselor or principal will also be helpful.
My Grandma taught me that accepting a kindness is a gift to the giver, so don’t let your pride block your way. You will find a way to get back on your feet. May God richly bless you.

If you haven’t been in touch with your county’s social services, do it now. You might find a counselor at your kids’ school(s) who can help. Accept the help. Too many conservatives won’t seek help however desperately they may need it. You don’t have to accept the assistance forever, but it will help you get thru this situation and eventually on your feet.
