North Carolina Rep. G.K. Butterfield, who was elected chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) this week, told WUNC on Wednesday that the CBC is laser-focused on whats happening in Ferguson. He added, We are very, very concerned about it.
Butterfield, a former Superior Court judge and civil rights attorney, said in an interview with WUNC, the North Carolina Public Radio affiliate, that he expects a report from the grand jury in the Michael Brown shooting case next week.
I was a judge, as you probably know, for fifteen years in North Carolina and I presided over many grand juries, the congressman said. So I would certainly hope that the grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri, will find that there is sufficient evidence to conclude that a crime probably was committed, to lay out that crime, and to let a jury of twelve in Missouri decide the guilt or innocence of the police officer.
Butterfield didnt say whether he had seen any evidence indicating that a crime probably was committed. Nevertheless, he had a stern warning for the grand jury: If they turn their backs on justice there will be there will be pushback from those who are concerned about it and Im one of those whos concerned about it. There will be pushback. We will be asking questions.
The North Carolina congressmen, who has represented his district since 2004, said he hopes that any demonstrations in Ferguson will be peaceful and non-violent. And I would hope that law enforcement would not inflame citizens who want to express their First Amendment rights.
That guy looks like a honky. Must be one of those Warren type “people of color”.
Sadly, I suspect a lot of black people are HOPING a a white cop shot down this black man in cold blood. They want it. They need to use it.
Concerned, yup. Concerned about fanning the flames of racism and hate. Concerned about framing an innocent cop defending himself from a violent, gargantuan thug.
I wonder what this turkey of a CBC Chairman considers justice since he's not privy to the evidence before this Ferguson Grand Jury?
Yes, a crime was committed! A hulking black thug attacked a police officer!
“That guy looks like a honky. Must be one of those Warren type people of color.”
I wonder if Obama looked like that if he would’ve gotten elected.
Name on reason why Butterfield. Just one...
It makes you wonder if the old “judge” suffers from some “white guilt” and “white privilege”. Hmmmm.
From the leaks that some are repeating, it looks good for the officer but like I have been saying for awhile, don’t count on anything because if the jurors were compromised and threatened ...things could go weird especially with the arm of Holder’s Department of Injustice being involved. Let’s pray the jurors do the right thing by the evidence so, when we, the public do see the evidence / coming to their conclusion, we will know if they stayed within the boundaries of the law of a police officer defending himself or not ...
Wow.
You scare the living Shiite out of me.
You were a judge? Over a kangaroo court, would be the only con lussion one could come to.
Evidence must not have been a guiding influence in the cases you presided over and I would hope your statement is cause for alarm and a review of each case you presided over.
You are truly a sick and obviously biased man, willing to hang anyone, on your personal opinion alone.
It's their "proof" that white cops are using black kids for target practice on a daily basis in every city and town in the country.
Butterfield acknowledges he has European as well as African ancestry, and that he identifies as African American. He has noted that he grew up on the "black side" of town and led civil rights marches
Ah yes, he grew up on the black side of town.
What an idiot. Yes you Mr. Butterfield, you are an idiot. Stop and listen to yourself. You are saying you hope a crime was committed. Yes, that is exactly what you said and apparently how you feel. Why else would you hope that the grand jury would move to indict? Surly you wouldn't hope they would do that to an innocent man, right? So you must be hoping that the police officer is guilty. You are saying you hope a crime was committed.
In short Mr. Butterfield, as my Dad used to say "you're the north end of a southbound horse." If you hope a crime was committed so badly, why don't you just go out and commit one yourself? No? Oh, so you're not actually for promoting crime then? Then you should be hoping no crimes are committed. You should be hoping that the grand jury, in fact any reasonable person, could look at the evidence and conclude no crime was committed.
Is there any doubt progressivism has rotted our system to its center?
Sounds like “white guilt” with a splash of “white privilege” thrown in to me. After all, he was a “judge”.
