"AUSTIN, Texas -- Speaker of the Texas House Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) is now virtually guaranteed to be victorious in his re-election for Speaker, as thirty five more Republican State Representatives announced this week that they would endorse him. Straus has faced ongoing criticism that he has failed to advance a conservative legislative agenda that reflects the will of the Texas people on a number of key issues, most notably the issue of protecting the unborn. This week's surge of endorsements has fanned the flames of discontent among pro-life advocates that the Texas House under Straus' leadership will once again fail to promote pro-life issues."

“What can Lt. Gov. Partick do?”
Take names, which he’s doing. Next, find well-qualified alternatives to replace those that support Straus.
Then, starting in the middle of next year, when the session is over, he will ‘visit’ the districts of many, if not most, of these House members. He’ll bring other Tea Party favorites with him and openly campaign for these alternatives. For many of these Straus supporters, January’s vote will be the LAST TIME they have a say in who runs our State House.
He already took out a guy in the State House a few years ago, a guy named Buzbee (who now chases ambulances in Houston), but I guess he’ll need to do some “House Cleaning” to finally get our state cleaned up.
“...Capriglione turned around right after getting elected with the help of the Tea Party. He will be a single term rep.”

I hope our Texan FReepers will be keeping naughty and nice lists starting now. Republicans join the ‘RATS and vote for Straus need to be on the naughty list and should be primaried the next cycle. There is absolutely NO excuse for this happening.
Is corruption (as in the Mississippi GOPe) behind this?
Anyway, there are a few in Texas, but they are getting more and more rare.
I never said they don't exist.

Houston’s Mayor. She’s not a Republican. I don’t think her *wife* is, either.
Cornyn and Straus are the next two liberals that need to get the boot.

Amen! Add me to the ping lists (like the Give Dewhurst the Boot list), if you start them. Helping to boot two more will be worthwhile ;-)
FR does need them, though. The Dewhurst list proved very useful.

good, now let us get an independent to run too, just in case Straus wins the primary
"Annise Danette Parker (born May 17, 1956) is an American politician, who has been elected Houston Mayor three times, serving since January 2, 2010. She also served as an at-large member of the Houston City Council from 1998 to 2003 and city controller from 2004 to 2010.[1][2]
"Parker is Houston's second female mayor (after Kathy Whitmire), and one of the first openly gay mayors of a major U.S. city, with Houston being the most populous U.S. city to elect an openly gay mayor.
They are getting scarcer. It takes a lot of work to get rid of them. Ask Dewhurst. Oh... you can't, he got fired.

Thanks. I’m about to give Marsh Farney an earful for endorsing Straus. He has to go.
At least the liberals are outing themselves. Something to remember when primaries come around again.
