Reps. Ted Poe (R-Texas) and Diane Black (R-Tenn.) have introduced legislation to prohibit funding to implement President Obama's executive action on immigration.
Their bill, titled The Separation of Powers Act, would block the use of funds for deferring deportations of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally or providing work permits.
Poe said the legislation would reinforce the constitutional principle of checks and balances. "This legislation will allow Congress to exercise its 'check' on an out-of-control White House that treats the Constitution as a mere suggestion, not the law of the land," Poe said.
Black said the measure could be one of the options for Republicans to respond to President Obama's action.
"My colleagues and I will explore our options to stop this overreach and restore the proper Constitutional balance to our government this legislation is an important start," Black said.

So...attach it to funding food stamps then, the RATS wouldn’t let him veto that!
The RATS could filibuster food stamp funding in the senate next year, but their moonbat gibsmedat base would burn them at the stake!
No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law.The Treasury means the funds held by the government of the United States, not just account in the Department of Treasury. According to the Constitution all spending must be authorized by an "Appropriation made by Law."
And who gave him that money? Well, I guess now we know had the GOP not written Zero so many blank checks, he would have increased his budget through EO.
“Oh not that” says Lerner and Holder.
Then please explain to me why Immigration stayed open and operational through the entirety of the government shutdown last year?
Oh no, NOT THAT!!! Anything but THAT!!! < /Eric Holder>
Because it has been a long time since we have actually followed the Constitution. It is time to return to what the Constitution actually says and for Congress to reclaim its powers.
RE: Congress can override Obama’s veto.
Yes they can, with 2/3 votes.
We don’t have that.
At most, we’ll have 54 Republicans in the Senate. Good luck finding the 13 Democrats who will side with the GOP to override any Obama veto.
Failure to uphold the law is a violation by each Cabinet Secretary, and underling.
I recommend we get busy defunding / impeaching / convicting each of THEM who enforce unconstitutional edicts rather than the law.
Impeaching 0bama is a fool’s errand in the last two years.
Destroying his underlings by the thousands in the mean-time is just and right.
RE: They can pass a bill that makes it illegal to spend anything on implementing his amnesty.
But Obama still has to sign it into law...
But its great politics....it makes people think their reps are conservative and are doing something.
David Cameron does this kind of crap in the UK and people don’t buy it, they vote for the new political party, UKIP instead.....
If you read my entire post, you would see that I suggested that it be part of any CR to continue funding the government. Yes, Obama might veto it, but then he would have to defend shutting down the government solely in order to be able to spend money for an order that the vast majority of Americans oppose.
GOP needs to stop worrying about reputation.
Make a SWEETer bill, pass it in Congress,,,one that allows for so much for ALL 11 million illegals,,puts the steps down, etc. More goodies. Even though it’s not sincere, neither are the Dem efforts. Beat the Dems at their own game. Blow it up in their face and make it bigger. Would have to be careful,,,but do an about face on it and give the illegals even MORE. Most can be undone later....with a Republican president. It’s only for 2 years. Win over the illegal side with the same bribe tactics the Dems are using....and get a Republican president in there. If Obama vetos it,,even better!
Repubs should tell King Obama “MOre illegals deserve a better chance than what you stingy liberals are giving them”....sweeten the rhetoric,,,appear to sweeten the pot and dare King Obama to veto it. Causing him to veto ANY legislation that appears sympathetic to illegals is going to look very bad for him. Beat him at his own game.
The very last things the Dems are expecting is for the GOP to come up with a an even bigger, better, sweeter deal. Of course it can be undone later,,and blamed on the Dems! We have to play their game!
If the Dems or the MSM say “hey, wait a minute!” GOP can always say “we’ve ALWAYS felt this should go thru Congress first!” That’s all they have to say....that the argument was about the process,,,not the illegals.
Can you imagine Reid or Pelosi actually being forced to say “Well, we don’t want to give the illegals TOO much.”...or something like that.
That’s what the GOP should do. Make the objections about the process.....it’s only two more years.
Which has NO chance of being signed into law-these Reps. think the American people are idiots or easily led, well you won’t fool us this time!
How is going liberal beating them?
