USS Dewey
Interesting that this comes out after the “reported” (by Russian sources) events of the USS Donald Cook flyover.
And this from just yesterday:
FDRMC Completes First Selected Restricted Availability on USS Donald Cook
“Her short 100-day selected restricted availability (SRA) was scheduled from Sept. 24 until Nov. 12, and was filled with maintenance, modernization, and assessments, such as the BMD readiness assessment, which are usually done after the completion of an availability.”

I have NO idea if the two are related.
I miss the big guns.
I need one and maybe a spare.
I served on an old DD commissioned in 1945 in Vietnam. We had double 5”/38 guns, asroc’s, and torpedo tubes (don’t know if there were any torpedo’s in them.) I would have loved to sail on one of these new Aegis ships.
When do they start marketing the home version for taking out annoying drones?
The best weapons system in the world are useless without the will to use them.
Funny story, We had to do some electromagnetic compatibility testing onboard the then new CG-49 Valley Forge out of San Diego. One of the Chiefs gave us a tour of the radar hardware spaces. We and he got a great laugh out of the 5 MEGABYTE hard drives that were the size of a small two drawer filing cabinet. The computer tech being used in the 1986-7 time frame was already hilariously far behind. We had our spectrum analyzer running, so they gave us a demo of how they can control their radiated spectrum. Was classified at the time, but very unique for a radar to do what it could do.
Could see why it is so hard to jam. Worked with a guy at Pt Mugu whose sole job was to come up with jamming threats against Aegis. He spent a lot of time analyzing commie hardware info and trying to build simulations of it. Dunno how well any of them worked.
