Illegal immigrants stand to make out nicely, seeing a big jump in their wages under President Obamas policy, announced Thursday, granting millions of them temporary amnesty and the chance to work legally, but analysts say American workers in some jobs are likely to feel a pinch from new competitors.
While most of the illegal immigrants to whom Mr. Obama granted tentative legal status were already under little fear of deportation, they were usually working in the shadows, either off-the-books or using a bogus Social Security number that trapped them in low-skilled jobs and left them vulnerable to abuse by unscrupulous employers.
But Mr. Obama said millions of them will now be granted legal work permits along with their official stays of deportation, giving them a chance to seek better-paying jobs, demand a minimum wage and report workplace safety violations without fear of retribution.
Those new protections could produce an average wage jump of 12 percent, according to a Congressional Budget Office estimate attached to last years Senate immigration bill....

While the Kenyan Emperor was sticking it to the American gringos tonight, the unions were huge winners. Wait until Jose sees what the union Neanderthals are going to do to his paycheck. LOL!
It’s forced migration, whether immigration or migration, it is forced upon one ethnic group or culture, or upon another ethnic group or culture.
No different than the socialist pogroms of Stalin and Hitler.
Obama admits that our country “doesn’t matter” ... but what matters to him, is what he, by the stroke of the pen, will make.
So our country is taken over by Obama, who can order people to live where he wants them or leave from where he does not want them.
There is no border, no boundary beyond his reach -— except at the Bush compounds where Americans opposed to illegal alien activities are termed by by Bush as “vigilantes.”
While Beltway insiders fuss over the fence around Obama.
Will these guys be paying into Social Security and paying income taxes as a result? Is anyone troubled by the fact that upper income wages are increasing 10 to 20% a year while low level wages increase 1 to 3% a year?
My daughter had to ride her bike 10 miles on a dangerous highway to get to the Taco Bell in Lockeford, CA, where she could only get 20 hours per week, while the manager’s undocumented brother got 60 hours per week on 3 bogus social security cards. How stupid does the Chamber of Commerce think Latinos are, that they can’t figure out that MultiNatnlKorp will throw their people under the bus as soon as they figure out how to make a killing at it?
Anytime I want a raise I sell another plan.
The practical effect will be nominal and negligible.
I’ll do a write up on this in the next few days demonstrating what is more likely to happen.
Businesses that need to pay a sub-minimum wage today will still need to pay a sub-minimum wage after Obamnesty. Those who pay slave labor will still require slaves. These “legal-illegals” will lose jobs to illegal-illegals.
If Jose gets his work permit and tries to get a job in the formal economy, an employer would have to pay him at least minimum wage. What employer is going to pay Jose minimum wage while there are still plenty off illegals willing to work for less than that?
A lot of these Dreamers, if they try to take advantage of this “legalization,” will find themselves priced out of the job market by (gasp!) illegals.
They are here living and working comfortably with no fear of deportation, paying little or no taxes, and able to send cash home without fear.
Why would they want to invite gov’t intrusion and pay taxes?
LOL! Good point.
Will these guys be paying into Social Security and paying income taxes as a result?
They’ll probably get tax refunds through Earned Income Tax Credit.
I opposed obama.
I voted for and supported Mitt.
Apparently, the American Stock Markets are happy. Below are the real time stats ato 7:27 am PST:
S&P 500+0.83% Dow+0.84% Nasdaq+0.77%
How many of those sixty hours was the undocumented brother actually working as opposed to just being paid?
