WICHITA, Kan. (CBS St. Louis) – Wichita police say a woman was sexually assaulted, hit on the head, and set on fire Monday night in Fairmount Park.
According to police, the woman was on the ground, almost in a crawl, barely moving, and naked.
The woman was helped by a neighbor – Johnnye Marshall woke up her boyfriend Deon McPherson when she heard somebody scream for help.
“What if that was my daughter? I’d want somebody to go in and get her,” McPherson told The Wichita Eagle. “Where there wasn’t blood, there was a burn.”
The flames from the fire were about 2 to 4 feet high. McPherson stayed with the woman until firefighters arrived.
According to Wichita police Captain Troy Livingston, the woman suffered burns on 55 percent of her body and is currently in critical condition but has slightly improved.
Police are still trying to figure out if this was random or if the woman was targeted. Either way, Livingston called it a “disgusting crime.”
Police are currently searching for a suspect but the only information they have on him is that he is a black male.
“Our hearts go out to the victim. This is a tough deal,” Livingston added. “Somebody out there knows what happened and we need that information.”
Prayers up, at 55% burn coverage this woman is having incredible pain. Long term prognosis on this level is dicey.
Acts like this and acid attacks DESERVE comparative treatment for the gratuitous pain inflicted.
Works for me. A bit too quick though.
I’m for slowly roasting him until his skin bubbles then a couple of weeks of agony later - throw him into the pig pen.

She should have saved her pee so she could put out the fire. /bitter sarcasm

Whatever color her skin WAS, it is red right now. I do not mean to be gross, but sounds like most of her skin is burned.
It should have been chelsea, now that would be karma.

but its debilitating....I hope for this poor woman it wasn't her face or her hands....
The premise of "The Road" was that the little boy grew up good and loving even despite those circumstances, that people are innately good....
I question that everyday when you read about the horrific acts carried out by "humans".
Back in the 1960s, my father's close friend was jumped by three black youths at a bus stop and set afire. They doused him with gasoline and lit him up. He survived, but underwent painful skin grafts for a couple years. Lost the use of one arm and hand. He'd often put my hand to his neck and cheek and told me I was feeling his ass, and laugh a hearty laugh. Yep, he got skin grafts from his buttocks to cover burned areas on his upper body. He was a fighter and survivor, continued working even with only one good arm.
I know what the punishment should be for the perp.
