With only hours before President Obama is expected to announce a major unilateral amnesty for illegal immigrants, Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill appear flummoxed at what they might do to stop him from going forward.
“We’ve been trying to figure out what leverage we have. And we’re all finding it very difficult to actually stop the president in the next two months,” said Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-IN).
Iowa Republican Steve King, however, did not lack ideas. Speaking to a scrum of reporters off the House floor, he offered a a specific, three-step plan on how to respond in the weeks following the announcement.
The first step, King proposes, would be a resolution expressing disapproval of Obama’s order and his authority to issue it. “Then, we’ll see how the president acts. If he reacts to that and decides that Congress is actually going to control the president, then maybe we don’t need to do anything else,” he said.
With Obama presumably unswayed by the non-binding legislation, the House would then move to censure the president, a formal act of reprobation short of impeachment. Censure has no formal articulation in the Constitution but has been used a handful of times throughout U.S. History.
“That’s more personal, it’s more direct. It holds him accountable for the anticipation that he will again violate the oath office,” King said.
The third step is to use Congress’ power of the purse to “cut off all funding to implement or enforce any unconstitutional executive decision,” something that presumably must come in January once the next Congress has convened and Republicans control the Senate.
King said that a funding battle needn’t occur over the entire swath of appropriations bills: “It would be possible for the House to go forward on some of the appropriation bills that don’t effect

O my.. Even I remember they passed a bill to find everything but obamacare and it didn’t work. They have no power of the purse, otherwise we wouldn’t have obamacare.
4th: Drag all Dem Senators and Congressmen in to the fight. They will not get any funding for anything in their respective states/districts. All leadership positions will be limited. No Dem initiative or bill will be realized much less voted on, etc.
You are correct. But the Senate wouldn't even take up the bill. It never got to 0bama's desk.

It obviously hasn’t occurred to these clowns that they have no leverage with Obama as long as they are willing to cave in to him and the Dims at every opportunity.
What he’s ignoring is the most logical course - the judiciary. If this action is unconstitutional, as most rational people believe it to be, the the courts must step in and stop it.

Not approving presidential appointments? 0dumb0 will nominate them and declare them to be approved by him, since "Congress isn't doing its' job" and he will ignore any judicial edict to the contrary.
Defunding? We already saw last fall that 0dumb0 & the demoRATS will destroy the cowardly fearful ball-less Repubs for "shutting down the government" and 0dumb0 will once again single our veterans to bear the brunt of his petulance.
Impeachment? This is the ONLY action that will have any teeth to actually stop 0dumb0 and halt his executive order.
Defunding will work this time - the House and Senate will pass it and it will land on 0dumbo’s desk.
Last time, only the house passed it. It never got past the Senate to 0dumbo’s desk.
He does not fear impeachment. He welcomes it. It would “martyr” him.

There isn’t a lot that the GOP can do until Jan. Obama knows it so he is going to wreak havoc until then. Trying to fix this mess later is going to be a nightmare. Its going to take years to fix the damage Obama has inflicted on this nation. I will be shocked if we are not in a full blown CWII before 2016.
Impeach. Remove from office. Arrest. Convict. Imprison for life.
In addition, I would announce that since the President does not have the power under the Constitution to grant amnesty, we appreciate that those here illegally are announcing themselves and getting their illegal presence on the record as it will ease deportations once this is reversed.
If you make the illegals think that this is a trap, they will not participate, at least in signing up for the freebies.
I would announce from the House that any illegal act conducted even with the permission of the President shall result in conviction of sedition and that the House will move forward for prosecution.

Fed gov is only funded to December 11th. Make sure you only fund Gov for a short period so to get a real and conservative budget passed.

Nothing makes him stomp his feet. He just does something further to make us stomp our feet even more. He’s the one with usurped power grab. It’s up to us to stop it, not continue this foolish game.

Yes, the first two steps are useless, but are necessary.
Seeing how the House votes on defunding this action will influence my decision to go all third party or with the GOP in 2016.
A fourth step will be to take this to the SCOTUS, but I suspect the SCOTUS will rule that the House has the power to stop this on their own without the aid of the court.
0dumbo will welcome Repubs feeble attempts at “defunding” the government and he will shut down the visible aspects of government, targeting Soc Sec recipients but especially veterans. He & the demoRATs will make the Repubs look even more stupid & weak than last year. The ONLY recourse to stop this POS is to impeach him. He does not fear anything else but if Repubs stick to their principles (which they would have to do equally as much with defunding), then they can win this impeachment battle. Either way, our country is doomed if Repubs don’t have the gonads to fight tooth & claw against this POS 0dumb0. As much as I hate 0dumb0, I wish there was even just ONE Repub who is willing to fight like 0dumb0 does.
