I was thinking the same thing at first, but if you are on Probation, they can Search the vehicle you are in or the place you are at whenever they want

No tags, no dr license. The vehicle was to be impounded. SOP to inventory the vehicle contents.
Same will happen to anyone in any of the 50 states if they do the same thing.
