Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch pledged to ease controls on carrying weapons for self-defense after a gruesome terrorist attack at a Jerusalem synagogue that left four dead Tuesday.
It was not clear exactly what new measures would be put in place, but it was reported that the move would apply to anyone licensed to carry a gun, such as private security guards and off-duty army officers.

Israel is certainly behind the average in that department.
You practically have to be a business owner and handle cash on a daily basis to get a handgun permit.
Even if you are a legal firearm owner you only have right to buy a few dozen rounds annually.

Not really much. Israel should consider whether law abiding adults should be allowed to be armed in their home or, horrors, in public. Given the threat level. For those interested, an old version of the laws, which I believe have been loosened slightly.
Every Christian and Jew in Israel should be armed 24/7.
I guess they had tightened gun ownership rules since I last visited there in the mid 90s. When I was there, it seemed that everyone who was walking around had an m16 slung on their backs. I distinctly remember all the hot woman at bus stops carrying them. Most of them appeared to be reservists in uniform, but how often do you see armed off-duty US serviceman walking around in public with M4s slung on them.
The looser the better. I’ve been putting up getting a license. Now I plan for both myself and the missus to apply soon.
