A private plane carrying U2 lead singer Bono experienced an in-air incident Wednesday, with a rear door falling off the Learjet 60, an official with the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation said.
“The Learjet lost a door where the luggage was put in,” the official, Germout Freitag, told ABC News.
Freitag said authorities don't understand why the door flew off.

On my Cessna, (granted it is far from a Lear 60 but the principle is the same) an item on the pilot checklist says: “Check baggage door for security.” In other words make sure it is secure, closed, and locked.

I remember being on a C141 Starlifter. The only window outside the cockpit was on the door. I went over and stood on a rail at the bottom of the door and looked out the window. I then realized if the door came off I was going for a wild ride so I quickly dismounted.
