Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) this week said President Barack Obamas pending plan to give legal status to millions of illegal immigrants will someday be seen as an historical action along the lines of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Johnson, one of several Democrats pushing for Obama to move on his own and allow millions of immigrants to live and work legally in the United States, also said movies would someday be made about Obamas action.

I predict the media will pick up this Emancipation Proclamation comparison, and run with it.
Remember how we had homosexual marriage week, when Obama came out on that subject? The media celebrated for an entire week. The media will celebrate illegal alien amnesty week when Obama issues his executive order. count on it.
Another good contender.
To this day lawyers still sail the routes illegal aliens used to cross rivers and fly over oceans as they were forced to come to the US.
Whatta laff.
Thats the Reconquista meme: try to equate themselves to the black slaves.
Race and economic injustice to be remedied by noble civil rights action, as if a foreign settler group is somehow a victim class deserving of remedial action.
And leading to the conclusion they want everyone to draw: the border is racist, and invasion is a civil right.
Lincoln freed slaves in portions of the country in open rebellion during a war. He did not free slaves in New Orleans, or Kentucky, Missouri, Delaware Maryland or Washington DC.
Which war is Obama waging?
Because 200 million illegals died during the 500 years they were immorally lured into America for welfare benefits.
You got it.
A set from the get in my opinion.
Coordinated media campaign: release our chains, O Lord Obama! give us our freedom to roam across your borders at will, let our Raza go!
Can see the triumphant processions now.
Lincoln ordered the emancipation as a war measure against those states still in rebellion. He know that it would not literally free slaves in areas where the Confederacy was in control, but, what it did do was move the focus of the war from merely restoring the Union to “freeing the slaves”.
That move changed the motive of the war. No longer was it just about Southern States fighting for independence - it was about the South trying to preserve slavery and the Union about freeing them.
And, it’s effect, though it was only directed at slaves still in states in rebellion, was to ultimately lead to the freeing of slaves everywhere in the United States.
Lincoln felt that the emancipation would be legal only if it was directed at the enemy as a “war measure” (to cause further strain on the South’s limited resources and thus help bring an end to the war). Whether the emancipation accomplished much as a war measure, I don’t know, but it certainly helped the Union’s PR.
Congressman Okinawa speaks, and still dumb as a rock.
As I recall, slaves were freed constitutionally by the 14th Amendment not by presidential proclamation.
He is certainly minimizing the horrors of slavery, isn’t he?
Stupid,stupid,stupid.
.
O Lord Obama, free us from the infestation of illegals, show them the door, praise Allah, if that is what it takes.
Or... you want civil war and martyrdom, go for it.
“Hank Johnson is a moron,”
Yeah, maybe it WAS a mistake to give the ability to vote to Blacks.
Ah — Hank Johnson.
Consider the source before getting too worked up about this comparison...
Hank needs to remember be is supposed to be working for the good of the American public. I know, even if he’s a retarded leftist.
Close.
13th Amendment.
Yet another dimwit DIMocRAT who continues to prove that he is an idiot and mentally ill (AS IF MORE PROOF IS NECESSARY).
