As we approach the grand jury decision after more than 80 days of protest, we understand that some members of the community are growing tired of civil unrest. They are asking questions about how it can end. Here are the Dont Shoot Coalitions answers to some of those questions. Protesters may have some points to make, but why cant they express them peacefully? The protests have been 99.5 percent nonviolent. But we are also being purposefully militant and disruptive. Change has not come through the courts, through politics or through gentle persuasion. We cannot wait any longer for whole segments of our society to gain freedom from abuse. Civil disobedience exposes tensions that already exist below the surface. Our society will not heal if we do not address issues that many people want to keep buried.
What good does it do to disrupt businesses and peoples lives, when these people are not part of the problem? Your question does not reflect the whole picture. This involves all of us. Its wrong to simply draw arbitrary boundaries around issues like fair policing, and decide that most folks are not involved. Many people especially white folks feel they can ignore the problem. People who benefit from or are not impacted by this unfair system have a duty to speak up and not be complicit. Ferguson has shifted the boundary line. It is not enough to say, Im not racist just because you have suppressed your conscious biases. The protests are designed to make people feel uncomfortable and spur us all to end societys structural biases.

Me too !
One other question I’ve yet to see answered, just who is paying for this “family’s” jaunt to Europe and the UN stunt ? Europe is expensive, Switzerland even more so.
If “white” people “protested” like this, and our government has given us PLENTY of reason to do so, We’d be shot dead, rounded up, property confiscated, etc...
But we’re not allowed to speak out against blacks doing this, because THAT would be racist...
It’s being pushed and pushed and pushed until we fight back. There’s no avoiding it, only putting it off.
...Because they aren’t doing it to make things right, but to steal and pillage.
Question for those tired of the Ferguson situation: Why are you still following it in the news?
If a ‘protester’ walks onto somebody’s property, front yard, or business property boundary, there is no other recourse, due to the act of willful disrepect of such boundaries, other than to act in self defense of that home or business, with full intent.
there are laws to deter ‘inciting of riots’.
If those are wilfully ignored, ‘for the safety of the police officers’, then the American citizens have no other recourse, then to do it themselves, and swiftly.
The grand jury decision should be released about 11:00 on a weekday night. Just like the Friday news dumps from the 1/2 white house.
Would it make just as much sense for me to say to a law-abiding, blameless black person, "It is not enough for you to say 'I'm not a thug,' just because you have suppressed your conscious aggressive tendencies"?
I don't like racism either way. What drivel this is. Headlined, spotlighted, amplified and highlighted by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. And there's half the problem.
Most people live their lives in such a way that this "problem" does not become a problem in the first place.
What a wise woman you are!
cleanup on aisle 4
Even if true (which it is not) this is irrelevant. Y'all set the pace on the first day and have earned the disgust of decent people. Pull up your pants, go get yourself a job, and leave me the F alone!
Denise D. Lieberman? Doesn’t sound like a black name.
Her grandmother was Dutch.
Mother Nature must be a racist because she’s about to send a weekend full of snow and freezing temperatures to Ferguson, with a high of only 28 degrees expected on Monday, when the verdict is predicted to be announced.
Anyone rioting in those temperatures for more than an hour will be in danger of losing frost-bitten fingers, without which it will be difficult to throw Molotov cocktails accurately, and the rioters might well end up hitting each other and destroying themselves in a conflagration.
And then there will be the Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson who will probably refuse to venture out of their warm headquarters to join the battle, demonstrating how little they truly care about the phony issue — which they themselves created — of white-against-black police violence.
Not only am I sick and tired of this idiocy, I want it stuck right back up these self-important cretins' arses.
Maybe so.
The problem here is that the issue is not the issue, the issue is the revolution.
The people pushing Ferguson could careless about Mike Brown and what happened to Mike Brown and why it happened.
All they care about is that Ferguson has become a media manufactured flash point that they hope to use as a means to jump start their revolution and start a race war in America.
Helter -Skelter did not work so good in the 60s so they are trying again a generation later.
The big question is who are the behind the scenes players driving this revolution to their purposes. Normal people do not get to address the United Nations general assembly without some VERY high level people with lots of mojo, diplomatic connections, and the right ideological bent.
It took years for the Dali Lama to get an audience with the UN and many, like the oppressed residents of South Sudan and the Kurds have been rebuffed and will probably never have their voices heard in the UN
One thing for certain, Brown's mom and dad invited to the UN to damage the United States.
For a hint, the actions in Ferguson bear the hall marks of classical ‘Chicago Method Community Organizing” developed by Saul Alinsky and practiced by many in the Obama Administration.
The President himself is a self described “community organizer” and Alinsy’s son says he is the best ever at the job of community organizer as defined by Wiki
“Organized community groups attempt to influence government, corporations and institutions, seek to increase direct representation within decision-making bodies, and foster social reform more generally. Where negotiations fail, these organizations quickly seek to inform others outside of the organization of the issues being addressed and expose or pressure the decision-makers through a variety of means, including picketing, boycotting, sit-ins, petitioning, and electoral politics. Organizing groups often seek out issues they know will generate controversy and conflict, this allows them to draw in and educate participants, build commitment, and establish a reputation for winning.[2] Thus, community organizing is predominantly focused on more than just resolving specific issues. In fact, specific issues are often vehicles for other organizational agendas as much as they are ends in themselves.”
Sound familiar? the Wiki definition neglects to mention the darker side of community organizing which is to seed the community with anger, strife, chaos and violence to more strongly motivate the masses
Coincidentally, the majority of the organizers driving revolution in Ferguson are from out of town and many from out of the country.
Many are from Chicago.
This operation has Eric Holder and Barak Obama’s finger prints all over it.
Just another scam to keep the race card alive but it’s to late it’s dead and they can’t think of another war to keep the gravy train on the tracks.
