Alaska race was called for the Republican a couple of days ago.
They may not could offically vote but since it was by acclamations I suspect they
are considered as voting aye. All the new senators are in DC getting familiar with the
routines, etc. I assume Cassidy etc would be there also getting the info.
I’m sure that Sullivan and Cassidy got to vote; parties generally allow party members who *might* be elected vote on party leadership when the vote is scheduled for a date on which contests haven’t been called. I know that Johnny Tacherra (who is in a tight House race in CA-16 that likely will go into a recount) is in DC right now attending meetings for incoming congressmen.
A few years ago a Democrat was elected to a House Democrat leadership position by one vote, and someone who didn’t end up winning the election had cast the deciding vote.
