The hospital that treated the only Ebola patient to die in the United States will pay his relatives an undisclosed sum and create a charitable foundation in his name, the family's attorney said Wednesday. The agreement heads off a lawsuit from relatives of Thomas Eric Duncan, who died Oct. 8 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Attorney Les Weisbrod declined to say at a news conference how much money the family would receive but said the settlement was a "very good deal" that would provide for Duncan's parents and his four children. Weisbrod also said Presbyterian hospital was not charging Duncan's family for his medical treatment. The foundation will assist efforts to fight Ebola in Liberia, he said.

Why shouuld there be any ‘settlement’? He received approximately $500K of care. How about settling that?
I’m no lawyer, but what legal grounds did those people have for a suit? The guy lied to get on a plane, lied after he got off the plane, probably lied at the hospital the first time, endangered the lives of a number of medical personnel and other people-including two nurses who contracted the disease he died of, etc, etc.
I hope both of those nurses he infected sue Duncan’s family until every dime of that settlement is gone, and then some-this is rewarding bad behavior by that family...
What was Jesse’s cut?
Extortion. White Guilt. Disgusting.
They probably got a goat, 10 chickens and enough chicken feed to last a month. Sheesh... They’re from Africa where having a hole to pi** in is a luxury. Don’t worry about the hospital, they probably got the deal of a life time.
“We’ll give you all the free coffee you can drink and...” Kramer... “I’ll take it!”
So he LIES to come here, exposes hundreds of innocent victims to the disease he LIED about, infects two nurses, gets treatment subsidized by the very ones whom he wronged, AND THE HOSPITAL IS AT FAULT?????????????
Only in Obama’s America!
Im sorry-the word REVOLUTION keeps coming to mind.....
I was hoping you all would explain it to me!
If the hospital had advocated euthanasia and killed the dude outright, they would have “humane” heros... No chance of “botching” the killing.
I’d like to see the whole bunch of them deported for bringing Duncan here in the first place, but that is just me.
Liberia wanted to charge Duncan-he is dead, so that isn’t going to happen. I think I read that the nephew is an American citizen or here legally-if that is so, then he can’t be sent to Liberia, but the hospital could have sued for the medical bills-they caved to public pressure instead...
Probably to try and get business stirred up again. It’s my understanding that this hospital is like a ghost town now. If you need quick treatment, go there....no waiting. This whole thing had a huge impact on them. They should probably be suing the family!
If Duncan had told them he cared for an Ebola Patient in Liberia, he would probably be alive today. The hospital has some culpability but Duncan is the one that is morally culpable.
Disgusting, just disgusting. That lying SOB endangers America, and his family gets paid for it.
I hope the taxing authority of Liberia has jurisdiction and manages to grab a big cut of the settlement from these freeloaders.
On the flip side, these parasites will run through the money in a couple of months and at least plow it back into the economy.
“What was Jesses cut?”
You beat me to it!
