Rand Paul call 'ISIS War' "Illegal", Urges Congress to reclaim power (Election 2016 starts)
Daily Caller ^ | 11/10/2014 | Derek Hunter

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul isn’t mincing words — he calls the military actions taken against the terrorist group known as ISIS “illegal” and says it must either stop or President Barack Obama needs to come to Congress to get authorization to continue it.

The War Powers Act allows the President to act militarily for 60 days before seeking congressional authorization, after which he has 30 days to seek authorization or end the action. That 90-day window has now passed. As Sen. Paul put it:

I believe the president must come to Congress to begin a war. I also believe the War Powers Act is misunderstood; President Obama acted without true constitutional authority even before the 90 days expired, since we were not under attack at that time.

But in either case, this war is now illegal. It must be declared and made valid, or it must be ended.

Congress has a duty to act, one way or the other.

If Obama goes to congress, he'll get approval. Then there's no stopping him from turning around and doing what he damn well pleases globally.

Without approval, Congress still has the ability to reign Obama in.

What is Rand Paul thinking today? And who knows what he'll be thinking tomorrow.

So then why doesn't Rand Paul go to his Republican buddies in the House and have them pass and send a declaration of war to the Obama?

Here we have a Democrat President sending us into war and meanwhile the Democrats say the Republicans are war mongers. This President ran on the platform to get us out of Iraq and we have never left it. Yet it seems to have gone unnoticed by the Democrats. They said that Bush ruined our economy due to the war in Iraq. The deficit is 17 trillion or something. Where is the outrage?

I’ve been told, “Paul is right, except for the fact that Obama asked the Congressional leadership to vote on this before they went on there 9 week recess. They declined, saying he had sufficient authorization under one of the
Iraq resolutions.”

Well?

He won’t go to Congress that would mean admitting tacitly that he must get authority in a while host of other areas as well.. It would be a slippery slope for his whole argument of “rule by fiat” because “Congress won’t act”, blah, blah blah..

Which part, the part where we trained them and armed them and turned them loose, or the part where we spanked them to solve the PR problem?

If you were smart, Congress pasted the wars power act during the cold war. Then the idiots past the resolution to fight terrorism. Both the Paul family did not vote for these and thinks they are stupid and not Constitutional. Learn history stupid.
