President Barack Obama says he intends to issue an order easing the threat against deportation for immigrants in the country illegally.
Hed act despite warnings from Republican leaders that he would be poisoning the well with a newly elected GOP-controlled Congress.

But who has the spine to start the proceedings?
They can. Both the twits should already be there in a premptive strike in addition to drawing up impeachment papers, invoking the 25th Amendment and defunding him.
There is a TON they have the power to do. The question is will they? They promised their own amnesty so I tend to believe they WANT obama to do it so they don’t get direct blame and Barry wants THEM to do it on his terms.
Yes, the next President could issue deportations by EO. The EO of Obama’s would be temporary, but we all know that just doing it will cause great harm to America in many ways.
But that was accomplished by the Greatest Generation.
We do not have a great generation today — we have a mix of diversified groups, each going its own way.
I don’t think impeachment will happen over this, but perhaps some legislative action to nullify the EO will occur.
Of course Obama will refuse to enforce the law (what else is new?), at which point things might get interesting.
If he goes far enough against his party and threatens their existence, they will abandon him like the Republicans did with Nixon.
It is likely Obammy is hell bent on amnesty to protect his own illegal entry status once he leaves office.
Not too long ago didn’t he boast that he deported more illegals than any previous administration?
Repubs need to act now, get out in front of this before he does. Announce to the country exactly how they will react to this and cite the reasons why he can’t do what he wants to do constitutionally. Give him a red line to remember.
Norm,
This sucks! If I had the power, I would already have it drafted, and submit it ten seconds after he signs his EO!
They messed up something, but I think it was the syntax, not the punctuation. :-)
Forget my remark about syntax; I looked again and saw your comma.
The Blacks should turn on the Democrats over this big time. IF they don’t they are without hope and a lost cause.
Buzz off. I will have no exchange with someone whose thoughts and ideas I find most foul.
The pubbies will send an all caps email to his highness. That should scare him.
Except every word I wrote was true. You don’t need to exchange anything. Truth stands on its own without your input.
“Except every word I wrote was true.”
Only in your own mind. Now buzz off.
They have always had the power. The problem is that we never rode them like the lone ranger on silver about it and let them push their ‘keep the powder dry crap. We did that and 3 times they promised to fight and funded him. Enough.
God for some reason gave America another chance. I’m not hopeful that the RINO lesser evil squad will take it but they damn well better.
No, your post history is filled with examples of it. Anyone wishing for proof need only read it.
Of course, he can. Indeed, the former is announcing that he chooses not to enforce the law. The latter is choosing to enforce the law.
Interestingly, the former is within the President's discretion. It is not necessarily an act of "lawlessness" -- if he has an appropriate reason for deferring action (he doesn't, but that's not the point).
In the meantime, note what has been omitted from the following statement:
President Barack Obama says he intends to issue an order easing the threat against deportation for immigrants in the country illegally.
There is no mention of work permits! Issuance of a work permit legalizes the status of the aliens. But simply deferring deportation has no effect on their legal status -- they remain illegal aliens.
Moreover, as you point out, deferring deportation is a readily reversible action.
Has somebody blinked...???
