Who cares if they are Muslim or not. The key point is they are an alien non-White people. Cameron is wishing for the indigenous White British to be ruled by non-Whites.

These ‘Asians’ may be citizens of the United Kingdom, and thus in the legal sense, ‘British,’ but they are in no real sense (defined by ancestry) British. David Cameron would not magically become African by plonking himself down in Liberia; the people Cameron is talking about did not magically become British, other than a description on their passport, by plonking themselves on that island.

Being Muslim would merely make them even more alien, and possibly hostile, but would not really alter the fact that they are alien people unrelated to the indigenous people.

The ethnic British communities have been here en masse for almost 70 yrs, some like the black community have small groups in port cities going back to the 19th C.

Sikhs, Hindus, blacks and other non-white groups have been part of British life and culture for over 60 yrs, they have fought and died for Britain, entertained us on stage and film/TV, have won us Olympic golds, they completely changed our food. To mention a few things. Yes, we have had our race problems (nowhere near the scale of the US) and its hasn’t all been positive, but, again perhaps unlike the US, the positives have outweighed the negatives.

Despite the hysteria, based primarily from the US and based on an ignorance of modern Britain, we have handled and dealt with mass migration since WW2 far better than other countries, and has had far less racial problems. Yes, we have had and have some problems (black-white tensions in decades gone by, now the problem is extreme Islam)

The postwar immigrants and their descendants. They ARE British and have been for decades. All, and yes including Muslims until recently, assimilated into British life and culture. That was the secret of their success in the 1940’s to 1970’s. Assimiliation generally whilst retaining a proud part of their culture.

THEN we had the disasterous ideology of multiculturalism, its THAT which has caused the problems that the UK has now, by allowing self-segregation and cultural ghettos to arise, which has allowed extremism to flourish.

I have absolutely no problem with a black British prime minister or a PM of Indian descent (Sikh/Hindu) or one of other Asian blood. We in the UK have already had many prominent Asian politicians, from Sikh, Hindu, HK Chinese/Far Eastern and yes even Muslim.

A non white British Prime Minister dosent bother me and most British people, as long as they are honest and do well for the country, and love their country. And it is their country, as much as mine. For you to suggest that groups that have been here for almost 70 yrs, and are now 3rd/4th generation, are still not really British is nonsense.

With all due respect, very few Freepers know anything about the ethnic history of Britain. OR frankly much about modern Britain full stop. How the immigrant groups have been part of British life and culture since just after WW2. How groups assimilated into British life and culture.
