If such a person is (properly) compartmentalized, the hire will probably sense it. Ultimately, neither the project nor the hire is helped, outside a fat paycheck. If the hire makes unhappy noises, morale and productivity only get worse. Just like the adage "buy a woman you hate a house," to skip the whole divorce brouhaha, just give an undeserving minority a fat paycheck and leave advanced projects and their hard workers alone, if you think of kick-starting an unqualified minority's career by dropping him or her into a fast-paced high-tech environment.

Well put; the paychecks are the ultimate goal (they don’t even pretend mentoring is - where whites were expected to bring black co-workers up to at least a fourth-grade level), and they’ll be content with that.
