Their rout complete, Republicans are celebrating sweeping victories from North Carolina to Colorado.
The GOPs success, however, may have as much to do with the dynamics of a low-turnout midterm election as widespread dissatisfaction with President Barack Obamas leadership [...]
An estimated 37 percent of eligible voters cast a ballot in the midterm elections, said Michael McDonald, an associate professor at the University of Florida. If that projection holds, it would be the lowest turnout since 1942, when Americans busy fighting a war let the level drop to 34 percent.
This years electorate was largely older, whiter and more male than is often the case in presidential years.
Republican pollsters knew the GOP would benefit from a smaller and less diverse electorate, but didnt predict the extent to which some Democratic allies would stay home on Election Day.
The composition of the electorate was fundamentally different than anyone predicted, said Gene Ulm, a pollster at Public Opinion Strategies, a firm that worked for Republican candidates or super PACs in Maine, Iowa, Colorado, New Mexico, North Carolina and Kentucky, among other states.
Indeed, the GOP scored sweeping victories across the rural and Southern states that Republicans typically dominate. But their success went much further, extending into battleground states and regions that are solidly Democratic.
A closer look at the electorate offers some clues about how the GOP seized the Senate majority, expanded its House majority and broadened its advantage in governors mansions across the nation.
Nationally, 6 in 10 voters were dissatisfied or angry with the Obama administration, and 6 in 10 separately said the same of Republicans in Congress, according to exit polls conducted for the AP and the television networks by Edison Research. [...]

Oh, so they let us win.
Right.....
Of course media id blaming whitey

I just hope the Congress can make some good decisions
and stop the slide
No Barf Alert?
Leftists are doubling-down on their white-anger theme.
Very dangerous for them (and the country). Keep up the implied hate, and they will basically drive all sane white people away from the Democrat Party.
Yes, but for different reasons. They are pissed at Obama because of his policies. They are pissed at republicans, because they didn't change Obama's policies.
I thought '[they forgot "clinging to guns or religion"]' would serve that purpose.
Scoreboard people. It doesn’t matter who played.
THe Kansas City Red Star has nothing left but anger. They were against Kansas Governor Sam Brownback and Attorney Gerneral Kris Kobach. Kobach won by 120,000 votes. They also said they could not think of one good reason to vote for Vicky Hartzler (Mo 4th). We will just keep winnning.
That’s a crappy and misleading analysis. sure if you add a 25% turnout and a 50% turnout the middlin’ number is not that super looking...but it denigrates the high turnout #.
In states with only a congress critter race I can see a lesser turnout and there were plenty of those...but c’mon...NC was pushing 50%...almost as much as a presidential race and the dumblecrat lost.
I do not have the #’s but I will bet in the hotly contested states turnout was pretty high.
Whatever gets you through the night, MenSeekingmen. That electoral toothpaste ain’t goin back in the tube.
in 2006 when the demons took over- 37.1%
now the Repugs do it with 36.5%-
Yep- !! the election was stolen!!
well... I guess the MSM has their “talking points” now
LOL
“...Very dangerous for them (and the country). Keep up the implied hate, and they will basically drive all sane white people away from the Democrat Party....”
The RAT party is pure communist. They have, or will, drive all sane Americans from them...not just white ones, but all true, freedom-loving American of any race, creed, faith or gender.
The People have woken up and have seen them, and their little gay barry ebola, for what they really are....and they roared loudly last Tuesday. It was a total butt-whippin’ and it ain’t over yet. I predict Landrieu is going down in flames just adding to their losing body count.
What this article has failed to mention is how badly Obama has damaged the Democrat brand for those less reliable voters. The Democrats will have a big problem on their hands come 2016. They don’t have something to motivate black voters who are probably the last group out side of the die hard left that still fawns over Obama. Many of the young voters will grow up with the bad taste of Obama in their mouth which is a good thing for Republicans. The GOP made significant inroads into the Hispanic vote even while not granting amnesty. Imagine that? Texas is even more red today that it ever was thanks to Democrats running a wide eye abortion radical Wendy Davis.
The nerve of those stupid, irrational, angry voters!!! If they just calmed down and stopped acting like spoiled children, they'd see how wonderful everything is!!!
Fixed: Their rout complete, Republicans are celebrating sweeping victories from Maine to Samoa.
Fair enough : )
“children” - yep, that’s how the left thinks of the people of this country,
I talked to a leftist one day that flat out stated that she believed that 2/3 of the people are incapable of making their own decisions.
I said, with those odds, where do you think you fall and how would you know? No answer, of course.
They believe the people that seek power are inherently more moral and intellectual than the masses - and for some reason, when they say this, they don’t seem to know the names “Maxine Waters” or “Cynthia McKinney” or “Sheila Jackson-Lee”.
The Wave from Tuesday’s election was not a GOP Wave, it WAS a “We the People” Wave. It DID NOT originate in DC, but WAS AIMED AT DC!
It is TIME to DownSize DC! Gut and field dress the beast.
