To begin with, this election was, generally speaking, a rejection of the notion being advanced by many in the establishment wing of the Party that the Republicans needs to move to the Left on social issues like abortion and gay marriage. Earlier this year, GOP establishment leaders like Kevin McCarthy and Paul Ryan announced their plan to begin trying to recruit Young Gun candidates socially liberal, and often homosexual, candidates to run under the Republican banner in an effort to broaden the appeal of the Party, especially to younger, socially liberal voters. John Boehner backed this effort, throwing money at the candidates who had been recruited to run this year. However, the voters who were supposed to be impressed by the GOPs lurch to the Left on individual choice issues instead reacted with a collective yawn. In the race for the open seat in Massachusetts 6th congressional district, Young Gun Richard Tisei - a gay Republican who has a 100% rating from NARAL and Planned Parenthood, who (obviously) supports gay marriage, and who is married to his partner - lost by 15 points to a non-incumbent and relatively unknown Democrat. To give this some perspective, Tisei had ran for the same seat in 2012 against a well-known and long-time incumbent and lost by only a single point. It does not appear that Tiseis choice to flaunt his peculiar lifestyle choice did him or the GOP any favors this time around...

The left always misuses God and compassion.
That they do.
Infuriating part, I’ve seen such drivel here in forum.
Yes, I worry about the future of these children.
I hear you.

Exactly right.
This whole thread gives me a heavy heart. These folks are about as far from being “gay,” in the true sense of the word, as they can get. They’re very sad, actually.
We pretty effectively insulate our family from most of the influences of the media, entertainment, and education establishment propaganda.
The upside of that is obvious, and huge.
But there is a downside. I can lose track of just how far these people have gotten in degrading the morality of the people of the country.
This was a reminder, I guess.
They don't actually believe in God, they just seem to think that they can trick more people with it.
As far as compassion goes, unless compassion is coupled with honesty, it's actually cruelty.

You linked to her/his attempt to create a situational ethics situation on this forum. She/he obviously misrepresented herself/himself to create the situation for people on this forum to have to work through. Very deceitful, and very typical of their agenda.
Here is the link you gave:

True, Christ-like love is telling people the truth. It can hurt but lying is cruelty incarnate.
I could not agree more.

It's not easy to do, but telling the truth can be a positive experience for those who have loved ones who are homosexual. It was for me and my sibling.
Absolutely right. The GOPe is shot through with it. They’ve almost completely stood down when it comes to morality.
When I was seven years old, I was running in the woods when I tripped and my hand landed on a broken stick which stabbed into my palm.
My parents were out of town and my grandmother was staying with us. I went inside and showed her my hand. She washed it off, put some ointment and a band-aid on it.
The next day my parents got home and my hand still hurt, so I showed it to my mother. Now, keep in mind, my hand wasn't bleeding, so seven year old me was convinced that it WAS getting better. My mother's degree was in nursing, so she realized that it wasn't healing and was actually infected. So, off we went to the doctor who said it was the early stages of blood poisoning. He debrided the wound, gave me antibiotics AND said that I needed to soak my hand in very hot (almost the temperature of a cup of coffee) for twenty minutes twice a day.
Now, having my wound debrided and soaking my hand in hot water was not my idea of how a cut on my hand should be handled (in case you aren't aware, I'm very used to getting my way) and I made sure my mother knew it. My mother COULD have told me that it was getting better and maybe buy me a toy to take my mind off of it, that's what seven year old me would have considered a compassionate response. However, my mother was honest with me and she made me do things that were more painful than the original injury, but in about a week my hand was better.
Telling homosexuals that their only problem is "mean homophobics" is killing them and endangering their souls.
Absolutely agree.
And the problem is, the longer a politician is in the spotlight the further he drifts away from conservative principles. I can't begin to count the number of Republicans who seemed great when they first arrived on the scene and then were full-blown moderates a few years later.
I wonder exactly where she crossed the line. or was it persistent obtuseness?

Yes. Adults often have to make difficult decisions, and do difficult things. It's unfortunate that so many of today's so-called adults are actually not fully developed emotionally, and retain an immature attitude toward life.
