Alongside the mother who tried to kill her as a child, tearful Wendy Davis concedes defeat after trouncing in Texas
Greg Abbott was landslide winner in Texas Tuesday evening as liberal darling Wendy Davis fizzled out Davis has conceded defeat, telling supporters to never give up and reassuring them the campaign was not fought in vain A teary-eyed Davis told her supporters it's OK to be disappointed, but not discouraged, by her loss, and to never give up and keep fighting with her Meanwhile, Davis' seat in the Texas Senate was taken by Republican Konni Burton, a member of the Tea Party Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker faced a tough test against Democrat Mary Burke, who got a rare campaign stop out of President Obama, but ultimately emerged victorious
The marquee matchup in Texas pitted Greg Abbott, the paraplegic state Attorney General, against state Sen. Wendy Davis, a freshly minted feminist icon known for filibustering an anti-abortion bill in pink sneakers.
Wendy Davis has reassured her supporters their campaign was not fought in vain as she conceded defeat on stage alongside her mother who almost killed her when she was a child.
Davis, who broke down in tears as she gave her concession speech, had earlier called Republican Greg Abbot to congratulate him on his landslide victory.
She told supporters at the Davis campaign's Forth Worth election party they must continue fighting despite a landslide victory for her Republican opponent Greg Abbot.
Davis took to the stage flanked by her daughters and mother. Two months ago the Democrat publicly revealed her mother attempted to kill her and siblings when they were children by putting them in the trunk of her car.
The 51-year-old explained her mother was battling depression after her divorce and was struggling as a young single parent

I predict she’ll be angling for a spot on the View.
As if she ever had the slightest chance of winning.
AMEN! And maybe that is why Dewhurst is gone.
Thank goodness.
Dewhurst wasn't in the race. There is no way this was a computer glitch. This happened in San Antonio where the mayor's mama is a big honcho in La Raza. Just sayin'.
Hillary's Rose law firm files found in a trunk, ballots found in trunk, Wendy Davis found in trunk, Teddy Kennedy's Olds, and so on.
For a party that's trying to eliminate private cars, they sure do find them useful.
In any case, I find the Wendy mom trunk story suspicious. I suspect the truth is that mom smuggled them into the drive-in movie lot.

Abbott - 2,775,589 votes for 59.28%
Davis - 1,820,657 votes for 38.88%
A guy on the radio said that Wendy Davis had her campaign aborted last night.
Now get the hell out of my senate district and my state!
Now get out of my state, Bitch.
Maybe she might now qualify as a counter girl at the Waco Dairy Queen.
I’m still dismayed that she broke the mid-thirties. That that many voters think this way is horrifying.
Being in the trunk of the car caused brain damage, obviously.
Sweet. She lost her seat to a Republican as well. I guess Abortion Barbie’s next stop is a tv gig on MSNBC.
And she still lost the election? What on earth is wrong with Texas voters?!?
She won in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and almost won in Houston. The RAT strongholds were pulling for her. Thankfully, most of the border counties couldn’t find their way to the polls with voter turnout percentages in the teens.
Let’s remember two factors here.
First, Voter ID was upheld eventually by the courts meaning it was more difficult for illegals to actually vote.
Second, the wave of Yankees moving to Texas during the Obama Depression apparently were either fleeing conservatives or not all that interested in politics because they didn’t turn the state blue as some have predicted.
Then toss in a soaking rain statewide and you have depressed most but the most enthusiastic voters - all factors working against Abortion Barbie and the Dems.
The really sad thing is that 1.8 million Texans voted for this worthless shred of human debris.
