Good news for Gillespie if true.

I observed noticeably high turnout when I went to vote at 9:30 this morning. I live in a Republican-dominated suburb.

It would be better news if the Republican votes weren’t being counted as Democrat votes.

Not sure about that. An increase in Dem voters could be offset by Conservatives staying home rather than vote for a GOPe candidate.

VA Conservatives who stayed home in ‘12 had zero handed back to them, those who stayed home last year had McAuliffe handed to them, maybe they’re figuring out the co-relation between sitting home and going to Houston in a Handbasket.

I’m noting from anecdotes here today that a lot of senior voters are especially motivated.

I’m in Dem precinct near fairfax city, turn out was light early this morning ... No ‘people of color’ no young voters.... Vastly different from 2012

What has the GOP given conservatives to vote for up to this point?

What will the GOP give conservatives in exchange for their votes?

Answer to both questions: NOTHING!

Bobby Scott (D) in Norfolk is running unopposed in the Virginia 3rd. If his supporters don’t have a big reason to turn out to support him they may not be there for Mark Warner.

Just a wild theory on my part, but...

The Precinct captains will vote for them then.

I’m in western Fairfax County VA and at around 10:30 this morning, it was busy.

Had to show photo ID to vote, but didn’t see anyone that could not produce the required ID. Since this is a reasonably affluent part of Fairfax, I didn’t expect to see anyone unable to produce an ID.

The county has normally used touch screen machines but this election was paper ballot and “color in the oval” to make your selection. Then the ballot is scanned into a reader.

Although there were only two scanners, they had set up 20 or more seats where you could mark the paper and this turned out to be much faster than the touch screen machines where our precinct only had 3 or 4 active.

Plus, there’s a mechanism for recount by hand if necessary.

I’m also in a suburban precinct in the 1st Congressional District, which is heavily Republican. I voted just after 8 am; my wife cast her ballot three hours later and noticed she was voter #995 in the precinct.

With that in mind, I checked the 2010 tally and discovered a total of 1936 votes cast during that mid-term election. Looks like turnout for our precinct will easily match that of four years ago, which is good news for Gillespie; he needs every vote he can muster to offset fraud by the Dims and their turnout in places like Norfolk, Richmond and Northern Virginia. As others have reported, there were problems with touch screen voting machines in the 2nd District from the moment polls opened this morning. Looks like the Dims are pulling out all the stops to get rid of Scott Rigell and give Mark Warner the “extra” votes he needs to win re-election to the Senate.

Looks like you are in Florida. Do you think Crist and Scott are going to give you the same results? Crist will open up Obamacare..even without statehouse permission. He’ll ram through gay issues (pun unintentionally intended). Not having leftist hacks in office is a net positive. I get as frustrated as the next guys, especially with the gutless DC GOP leadership. There’s no way in hell I am sitting on the sidelines though letting the left destroy what’s left.
