Ted Cruz Is The Frontrunner For The Republican Nomination
BuzzFeed News ^ | November 3, 2014 | Katherine Miller

What happens when you combine establishment credentials with a true believer.

The next week will involve a lot of talking about the “wide open” contest for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, about the strong field, about whether the strong field is irretrievably damaged, about how there isn’t a clear frontrunner.

This isn’t true. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz — the true outsider, the tribune of the grassroots, the ruthless lawyer — is the clear frontrunner for the Republican nomination.

This is not trolling. This is serious. Conservatives vote in Republican primaries. And Cruz is really good at talking to conservatives.

Even his enemies will concede Cruz is smart. And his resume is strong — Princeton and Harvard Law School; success at the highest level of American law; serious jobs in federal and state government; and an underdog Senate victory in 2012. The strikes against Cruz as a Republican candidate usually run something like this: He doesn’t poll well; the shutdown freaked people out; he can be grim; he’s not well-regarded among Senate Republicans. Cruz, who quickly replaced Jim DeMint as the most hated man on Capitol Hill, has been underestimated for what is basically a credential: Even Republicans in Washington hate him.

Let’s work through the rest of this like a geometric proof.

Yes, in the first big Iowa poll last month, Cruz trailed some other Republican contenders.

But more than a year before the Iowa caucuses, presidential polls are just tests of name recognition. And so they tell us one thing: The Democratic field is very closed; the Republican field is very open. That’s it. Mitt Romney polls very well for that reason — high name recognition in a field of parity....

Obvious conclusion, and one I’ve had since his filibuster “destroyed the GOP’s chances in 2014” — cough cough.

In the past week:

Jeb Bush is the front-runner
Rand Paul is the front-runner
Now it's Cruz.

Yeah, whatever, bloggers/pundits/analysts.

Far from having "establishment credentials" I think that if Cruz wins it will be in spite of establishment attempts to block him.

Cruz has a lot going for him. For one thing, he didn’t murder Terri Schiavo.

Comments:

I am sick and tired of nominating and electing “manager-types” to be President (ie. BUSH I-II, Romney), and that would include the ‘horrors of a BUSH III (another “manager”).

From the ‘death spiral’ that this country is in, we don’t need a FRICKIN “MANAGER”, we need someone with a GUT-FILLED ‘VISION’ of where this country ‘IS’ and ‘SHOULD BE’ and the only people that I know that have that are.....

TED CRUZ

and

SARAH PALIN

A keen mind, you have, to make that factual connection. Good job!

That means he is now Target A#1 for the GOPe to join with the Dems and the MSM to try and take him down, Sarah Palin-style.

Hopefully he will be smarter than Sarah in this regard and avoid falling into the traps.

That or some Federal Judge will suddenly decide to rule him ineligible because he was born in Canada.

Someone has gone off script.

The Dems have already begun trotting out the old warhorses.

This weekend, Lanny Davis said on Fox, "Jeb Bush would be a tough candidate for us to face."

And he kept a straight face.

Cruz is much more establishment than a lot of FReepers think, or would like to believe. Less so than Bush, comparable to Jindal, far more than any other aspirant.

He has two Ivy League degrees, had a distinguished legal and policy run in DC, and is enthusiastically backed when he tours the centimillionaires and billionaire abodes on the West Side of LA and the Upper East Side of NY.

I believe we should all get behind Cruz now, he will be running I’m sure, we do not want a repeat of 2012 primary, with so many people muddying the waters, tearing each other apart, wasting precious time and resources, so much that the last man standing is a Bush or Romney, we need to learn from history, you can bet there will not be many democrats in their primary, just a couple to demonstrate the illusion of choice.

We know what Cruz stands for, lets start working with him now, although I am sure he can stand against the onslaught of challengers by himself, just on principle, character, and integrity, why go through all the nonsense, if we begin to support him now, the challengers will be a few monied Rino’s and Cruz is more than capable of dealing with them, they all have a most pitiful history.

Very much looking forward to voting for Senator Cruz for POTUS in November, 2105. He IS the man.

The candidates are Romney, Bush , and Christie. Christie is a johnny-come-lately and is not part of the Rockefeller network though he, like the Rockefellerites, is philosophically a Democrat, and he won't get the nomination. Romney has already had the supreme Republican Country Club honor once so that might boost Jeb's shot at the Award.
The Bushes represent a a separate wing of the Rockefeller club and have had two Nominations. So it is between Romney and Bush. The choice is irrelevant to the election because neither man wants to be president though both crave the honor of the Nomination. Neither would seriously contest the Democrat and either is likely to simply lie down on the mat and wait for the count.

The only chance for Cruz or anyone else comes if rancor develops or exists between Bush and Romney so that they both simultaneously contest all the primaries. More likely is that the RNC will make its choice known and the other will stand aside or campaign for the RNC selectee. The Selected nominee will not contest the first primaries actively while the RNC and its money trash serially the Conservatives and knock them out one by one. The RNC choice will then campaign vigorously in the later primaries when the conservatives have all been bumped out. He will be the Last Man Standing and will "win." Because he does not want to be President most of the campaign funds available can be used up in destroying the Conservative contestants. Little is needed for the election itself.

Cruz probably has not put in enough time and schmooze(as Reagan did) to make it this time. He has the brains and the principles and could buck the Rockefellerites successfully next time. If there is a next time.

Trailed in the straw polls but he’s still the front-runner? A clear case of Common Core math.
