Happy Election Day everyone! I figured I'd go ahead and get the election day thread started. Polls open on the east coast in a little less than an hour.
Please be sure to post observations of interest if you went to the polls today.
DUDE, that is 56% of the precincts.
hundreds of towns with 100 voters spread out all over northern Maine ... using paper ballots.
265k voted in 2010
227k votes counted tonite.
which means 85% of votes are in.
Poliquin leads by 4% ... should hold on.
Northern Maine is the ultimate Podunk town kinda place.
What is this, 1888? Get your butt up there and help them count!! ;p
I can’t remember the last time a recount didn’t end up benefitting the democrat. I’m sure fraud will end up making the difference in this race, but it is too late to fix that. With as strong a showing as Gardner had, Beauprez shouldn’t have been this close.
50 TO 44 with 68% reporting, I think this is in the bag.
Republicans gets +8 now with the runoff in LA to make it +9.
BTW, Rod Blum is an Episcopalian: http://votesmart.org/candidate/biography/135714/rod-blum#.VFnaV2S9Kc0
So Zeldin will be the only Jewish Republican in Congress.
488 organized municipalities
The smallest town by population is Frye Island, a resort town which reported zero year-round population in the 2000 Census;
one plantation, Glenwood Plantation, Maine, also reported a permanent population of zero.
In the 2000 census, the smallest town aside from Frye Island was Centerville with a population of 26, but since that census, Centerville voted to disincorporate and therefore is no longer a town.
The next smallest town with a population listed in that census is Beddington (pop. 50 at the 2010 census).
Maines 2nd Congressional District is the most rural district east of the Mississippi River and among the largest in land area in the country.
Pro-Lifer Poliquin wins in Maine-2. per Bangor Daily News
BANGOR, Maine Republican Bruce Poliquin is projected by the Bangor Daily News to have defeated Democrat Emily Cain in the race to represent Maines 2nd Congressional District. Independent Blaine Richardson was a distant third.
I had a span where I only had Ibizan rescues left.
I loved them all dearly but the absence of Dobe was unbearable.
I know how you feel.
Ah, Blum, not Jewish? Ok.
AK Senate looks good, but Begich says he WON’T CONCEDE tonight, will wait until all the eskimo votes are in.
Lib SCUM Walker (”I”) narrowly ahead.
Let’s go Walker!! Let’s go Bob Beauprez!!!! Co State leg?? To close to call?
YIPPIKAIAI!!!!!
CO Governor...90% reporting:
Beauprez - 47.8% 847,526
Hickenlooper - 47.8% 846,786
before going to bed, I gotta ask...
Can this thread reallt still be called Election Day 2014?
Tim Herbst, YIPPYKAPAI!!!
One problem, Sullivan’s wife is a native Good luck with that
:)
HARDY WINS NV-4!!! Pickup.
Laxalt (R) ahead in NV AG race, close.
Cegavske (R) ahead in SOS race
GOP might have swept statewide offices
State Senate looks GOP, Assembly could be a TIE.
Johnny T still up in Cali-16, 97% in, look out for fraud. Romney only 39% in that seat but it’s not as democrat as all that.
CA-26 nearly tied.
Capps beats Mitchum in CA-24, close race. 8 and 9 look over, narrow D holds.
Ose (R) narrowly ahead in CA-7 Ruiz (D) still up in CA-36%, 50% in.
A stronger GOV nominee would have been a help in Cali.
McSally ahead now in AZ. Super close. AZ-1 looks lost.
I mean LET’S GO PARNELL, of course. Not Walker. Damn Walker to hell. I may have to turn in.
CO Governor...90.7% reporting:
Beauprez - 47.8% 863,888
Hickenlooper - 47.7% 861,007
Finally going the right way.
I believe that those numbers are flipped.
Beauprez is the one down now.
With Denver still at 85%, it doesn’t look good.
WHAT!
A website had called it for him earlier.
