Bullet damage scarring the halls of Parliaments Centre Block after the gunfight that killed Michael Zehaf-Bibeau is now being catalogued by experts preparing to decide what should be repaired and what should be left alone.
Heritage experts at Public Works and Government Services, the Crowns real estate and asset manager, are working closely with House of Commons curator Johanna Mizgala assessing the damage to determine the most appropriate approach to repair and conservation, said Heather Bradley, a spokeswoman for the House of Commons Speakers Office.
Bradley said any damage experts feel compromises the integrity of an object or an area, such that it could be susceptible to further deterioration, will have to be repaired.
MPs have expressed mixed feelings on what should be done with the damage left by the hail of bullets exchanged during the shooting. Some argue the damage is a painful reminder of the incident and should be repaired, while others feel portions of the damage should be preserved as part of the countrys history.

Canada Ping!
Last time I was on the House floor, the bullet holes were still there from the Puerto Rican Nationals that attacked the US Capitol
Leave them It’s history.
“....the gunfight that killed Michael Zehaf-Bibeau....”
.
Wasn’t he a muzzie, or is that fact overlooked?
That name doesn’t sound much muzzie.
He was a convert. Don’t understand that, myself, but that what he was.
I’m afraid if they don’t fix the bullet holes, everybody looking for a lasting memorial to themselves will decide to put in a few new holes of their own. I don’t want the perpetrator to feel at all special— that he made history.
Just a guess but I think the perp isn’t feeling special in a good way these days.
When I was a child on a field trip to Louisiana’s state capital, I remember sticking my finger in the bullet holes in the marble wall from when Huey Long was assassinated
He was a “recent convert”, of French-Canadian extraction, I believe.
His father is a libyan mohammaden.
You can take the tour of the Louisiana state capital and they will point out bullet holes from the Huey Long shooting. (They won’t tell you that he was actually shot by the state troopers who sprayed with their Thompsons).
Fix all but one and kick Muzzie butt.
This story reminded me of a story from Canada, where Vancouver City Hall had its historic door knobs removed, for accessibility.

He was a revert. His Daddy is Muzzie from N. ‘Frica.
What is there to understand — he was either brain-damaged or a complete idiot.
There isn't a snow balls chance he is feeling good right now.
:-)
Many buildings in France still have signs from WWII.
You are correct.
Here's the difference:
The event is a crime, it's a personal war against society. It's graffiti with violence. As soon as it is over, remove the evidence, else it becomes encouragement.
However if the evidence is an act of violence by a large group such as another country, then it is history for all and should be preserved.
9/11/2001 a case in point. Violence by a small group got lucky. Erase the damage.
