Let’s say a stalker is threatening a female friend of yours. She asks you if she can borrow your handgun. She is trained and has no criminal record. Should you loan her your gun?
If you live in Washington State, loaning her your gun may soon make you a criminal and will likely land you in prison.
Suppose you are a Boy Scout leader. Once a year, the scouts take a trip to a local farm where the boys earn their firearm merit badges. If you continue to stick with this annual ritual you may soon find yourself in prison.
Those two examples illustrate just a couple of the hidden consequences for ordinary citizens if Washington State voters pass Initiative 594 on Tuesday -- the biggest gun control initiative on any state ballot this year.
Gun control advocates are putting a huge effort into winning passage of the initiative. With $9.5 million from billionaires such as Michael Bloomberg, the initiative’s supporters are spending half as much asthe NRA is spending on all political campaigns and initiatives across the entire United States.
Yet, despite a huge money advantage, gun control advocates are still using totally inaccurate claims to make their case to voters. . . .

when they craft legislation they never put these kinds of exceptions in order to keep even the most moderate repubs from voting for them. they don’t care if repubs join them and their legislation ensures as few join as possible.
but when repubs craft legislation they screech and holler for this exception and that exception and demnad they be added, and demand amendments, and scream about “legal” people being denied something.

Agreed. I fear 591 will pass as a sort of compromise with the much worse 594. If it does Washingtonians will be surrendering their right to control their own gun ownership policies. Not a good idea given the anti-self defense attitude of the collectivists on the national level.
So, when can this Second American Revolution start? I think it is clear that this nation is now hopelessly divided, with Constitutional patriots on the one side and leftist socialists/communists on the other.
Reconciliation is no longer possible. We either split up or fight it out. Those are our only choices, because the country cannot survive this division.
Why the hell would you vote no on an initiative that prevents the state from confiscating guns without due process AND prevents the state from adopting the same misnamed “back ground check” scheme the gun control freaks are trying to push through?

Another common scenario around here. Soldier deploys, leaves personal weapons with girlfriend, fiance, friend, bother, sister, parent, uncle. ... Both parties could face charges. Or buddy borrows a firearm to go hunting, if they have car trouble and can’t get back inside the 72 hrs grace period, you’re both screwed. I had a friend borrow a handgun to take a CC class. Had to make sure she returned it in time.

Dear God, you can’t really have misinterpreted that ballot initiative that badly.
591 doesn’t surrender anything. It does not make the state somehow, magically, MORE subject to federal gun control. It doesn’t surrender any rights, it in fact safeguards them as it would prevent this Bloomberg nonsense from being passed in this state in future.
“...unless a uniform national standard is required.” Is wording that would ONLY ensure that this law DOES NOT VIOLATE FEDERAL LAW THE MOMENT IT IS PASSED. That wording does not in any way, shape or form imply any more requirement to follow federal law than already exists. We already follow MANDATORY federal law regarding background checks from licensed gun dealers, and without that wording the law could potentially make it VERY difficult for lawful firearm sales to continue in this state.
As far as surrendering rights to Congress, I am also at a loss as to how anyone could believe that. As a resident of the United States, you’re subject to federal law, period. No state law can change that. Around the middle of the 19th century a few states tried, but that particular issue was bloodily settled. So, barring a new round of secession, you’ll still be subject to federal law. The wording referenced up there merely prevents the state from passing laws stricter than what you’re already subject to, which is a good thing.
591 is pure, 100% gun rights, and I’m at a complete loss as to how anyone could be so ignorant as to misinterpret it otherwise.
The Rat legislature passed similar bill in Colorado a couple of years ago as well as an unenforceable magazine-limit law, all of which 3/4 of all sheriffs announced they wouldn’t enforce.
Also, as it turns out, almost everyone in Colorado has completely ignored the transfer law and now they’re starting to ignore the magazine limit law.

591 makes it so that if and when the congress passes the same idea as 594, Washington falls in line automatically. They are BOTH bad laws.
