Covered California Website Outage Hides Huge Premium Increases

As someone who was forced into Covered California (CC) last year when Aetna, my long-time and excellent healthcare insurer, exited California’s individual market, I am painfully aware of the technical incompetence of the CC website.

This year, the CC website has been down for the last two weeks, even though CC renewals are due by November 15th. As someone who had their monthly healthcare premium jacked-up by 71% from $780 a month in 2013 with Aetna to $1,336 with Covered California in 2014, it seems convenient the website outage is hiding the huge premium increases many new Covered Californians are about to suffer.

For many years, I purchased preferred provider healthcare policies for my wife and me with Aetna. Despite running up over $100,000 in medical expenses after being rear-ended by a texting driver in 2012, my monthly premium only increased from $760 a month in 2012 to $780 in 2013, or just 2.6%. I became a very satisfied customer of Aetna.

"I hate California."

So do I. What’s your point?

My point is that I love Lena Dunham. Deeply. With all my heart.

"Apathy?"

Sure bert, sure. I don't care.

The Ninth Circuit has the highest percentage (68%) of sitting judges appointed by Democratic presidents...

“There is more support for FR from any other State, with the occasional exception of Texas. Are you saying that California FReepers deserve what has happened here and have no legitimate complaint? If so, I suggest you direct your post to the owner of this site because he lives in Fresno. “

Thank you for stating the obvious. These idiots don’t really understand that millions of Californians suffer because of the acts of the RATs. Sure there are more RATS here than RINOs, but the delta is probably less than 10%. The other thing is, that as we are here in CA today, so will their states become eventually. The States fates were sealed when the SCOTUS ruled on one man, one vote. Now Los Angeles and San Francisco are able to completely control an otherwise very conservative state.

I agree, but Obama and Holders Gestapo are already reading yours and my posts.

The year 2014 will either end America as we know it or signal a voter revolution to take our freedoms and liberties back. It will be one or the other.

I feel fortunate that I am old enough to remember the Norman Rockwell’s America for it will be written off the politically correct history books in 2016 if this most important election in our country’s history to preserve our heritage and lifestyle goes to the enemy.

“People in the Marxist land of California have nothing to gripe about for they have foisted all of this misery upon themselves.”

Not 100% of the people in California vote the someway. Just as in every other state, the rural areas are quite conservative while the cities are liberal.

10 years ago, Prop 187 passed overwhelmingly -and would’ve solved all the illegal immigration problems. One activist judge overturned the will of the people and now the invasion will destroy the entire country. Californians were the first to see the problem and vote on the solution. But were ignored.

“The sad fact is that with millions of illegals actually being invited to live in California (by the “people of California”) along with state and national representatives (such as Nancy Pelosi voted by the majority of “the people”) who ignore the Constitution and are elected over and over again to “bring home the bacon...and welfare checks along with laws that destroy morality and responsibility), the vote of conservatives is simply stifled and don’t count for anything any longer.”

It will happen in every state eventually. Wherever you live isn’t exempt. I lived in Texas, touted to be conservative -but the population of illegals there is huge and growing. I didn’t hear English spoken there any more than in California. All the border states are toast. The states can’t control the invasion when it is orchestrated by the feds.

With most of the others not far behind. We’re escaping mexifornia and will be purposely in an area that is 90%+ white and conservative. But I don’t expect it to stay that way because of the invasion the federal gov is accelerating, but will at least get to be in what seems like the US for my remaining years.
