The way we got candidates like Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney was by using Democratic Moderators to get rid of the good candidates.
If Republicans allow this to occur again, I am abandoning the Party for the Tea Party period!

Add Bush to the mix and you're right.

I don’t think today’s GOP wants to be in the majority. They are very comfortable being a minority and having no authority, just cushy jobs with outstanding perks. Hence, they put forth crappy candidates. Really, if 40% of the conservatives left and started a 3rd party, it would ensure the Rs never won, which would suit the GOP just fine.

"If Republicans allow this to occur again, I am abandoning the Party for the Tea Party period! "Same here. I am barely hanging in with them. I stopped sending money for them for a long time.

Fortunately, we have Christie, Rubio, Romney, and another Bush all waiting for their turn.

It ain’t the debate moderators. It is the GOP establishment. They fight candidates supported by the base and do nothing when they do manage to get control.
Does anyone believe Jeb Bush will seal the border?

Cruz seems to be the only guy on the public scene who actually “gets” it.

Or anyone with the last name of Bush.
Please America.... Don’t go there.

Here is the dynamic that is the real problem for conservatives:
A quiz: who is going to vote in greater numbers:
A. People who grudgingly drag themselves to the polls to vote mainly on ballot questions and a few local candidates, and who will check the national candidate while they are there only because they feel forced to.
B. Starry-eyed, feverish, spittle-lipped ideologues who are obsessed with a cult of personality who make up fawning songs about the candidate at the top of the ticket.
You can’t change the way people think without changing the underlying cause of those thoughts, which is the support of the candidate. You can change the behavior to a degree and shame them into going to the polls and angrily putting a checkbox next to the name of someone they don’t support, but that doesn’t change the underlying lack of support.

No, the way we got Dole, McCain, and Romney is because the GOPe has set up the primaries system so most of the early ones are open primaries where Dims can cross over and vote for Republicans.
To: sr4402
Moderates exist in power because Conservatives just do not have the will to fight republican's. The system is definitely broken and until conservatives actually are FORCED to fight a conservative will not be nominated.
repubs suck, deal with it!
