Sturm, Ruger & Company (RGR) stock tumbled after the gunmakers quarterly earnings missed analysts target by a laughably wide margin, proving definitively that the gun-sales boom driven by fears of the Obama administration is at an end.
As great a run as RGR stock had during the Obama presidency and especially after the shooting in Newtown its over. Theres nothing left to do but sell RGR stock and book profits. . . . .
Heck, RGR stock is up nearly 600% since Obama took the oath of office, and thats after a nasty selloff in 2014. Before the bottom fell out of gun sales earlier this year, RGR stock had risen 1,000% since Obamas inauguration. . . . .
Net income fell so steeply it requires a spit-take to fully appreciate. Profits tumbled to $6.8 million, or 34 cents per share, from $28.7 million, or $1.44 per share, last year.

What? I read the entire article. Your point?

No I meant I did not click the link and read the ENTIRE article. No offense meant there, FRiend. :)
I have a 10/22 that was made maybe 1990, and a tube-fed Marlin 60 that was maybe 1985. I like both but the Marlin is sweet. Of course the CZ bolt action .22 is in another league ...
My Father had a Marlin which had the same action as the model 60 but resembled the M1 Carbine. It was a way more accurate than most 10/22s and those Rugers are not really bad.
I agree about the CZs. Probably the best bolt action .22 currently made.
Buy guns and ammo now. There are only a few days or weeks left before the stampede starts.
Funny how you can collect a few guns that are pretty good without being an expert. Even pre-internet. I traded an old Toyota pickup truck for that Marlin. The truck is long gone but the rifle is good to go.
That is an old classic.
I don’t remember who did it, but I recall a promotion where a shooter fired thousands of rounds thru a Nylon 66 with no malfunctions.
5.56mm
Cheaper Than Dirt has a few 10/22’s at around $200-250...
Yup. I know what an 80% lower is, and just ask the customers of Ares Armor in Kalifornia just how "off the grid" they were for purchasing 80% lowers that the ATF later decided were more than 80% complete.
Thank you all for the tips on finding a good priced rifle...digging around now...but I thought that CTD was on a blacklist for pulling firearms right after the Sandy Hook shooting?
Have they made amends somehow?
It's true that guns last, if taken care of properly. However, even a "good" old gun may lack features of the newer ones. I'm not a gun collector, I'm more of a gun accumulator. What that's turning out to mean is that I have some guns that I bought fifty years ago, that lack features I'd now like, such as built-in rails for accessories like lights and lasers.
“Well just dam! Ill need to make room in my closet now for new products!”
It may be time to check if the little woman should be kept around anymore! Free up more space!
CTD got back to selling guns a long time ago, and wisely so. Another company that had a momentary brain fart!
Thanks, I had removed them from my bookmarks and had not gone back to check...
“Hmmm...been looking for a Ruger 10-22...will give this a little time to see how things shake out.”
At $179 for a new one now , how long you gonna wait?
How low can it go? ;^)
Seriously though, the local Base Exchange has them for a bit over $200 and no sales tax, so not long.
I’m not sure it was CTD. I’ve always used them for ammo. Never had them not sell to me, but don’t remember buying around the Connecticut hysteria. I just don’t remember...
Anyone got an old link to the thread for those companies going wobbly for those times?
And This: Cheaper Than Dirt stays in the gun game (with new, high prices)31 Dec 2012
So they we're caught up in the hysteria but cam back to their senses a few weeks later. Had I seen these threads, I might have made purchases elsewhere!
Just goes to show you, if you're not on a ping list, or someones' post multiple, duplicate threads, you can miss things quite easily. ESPECIALLY during holidays, what with travel and visiting, etc.
Yeah, it’s hard to keep up sometimes...
Thanks for posting the links.
You know that 24 years ago RUGER had a limited run of small bolt action rifles in .30 Russian Short.
I had the oportunity to hold one back in 1990 just after I had open heart surgery. The dealer offered me a great deal on it but I turned it down as I figured I didn’t have more than a few months left.
Silly me. Now I wish I had it.
