A nurse from Central Texas has agreed to quarantine herself after working with Ebola patients in West Africa. The woman is not currently showing any signs of the disease, but her work is Sierra Leone places her at “some” risk according to CDC protocols, the governor’s office said in a release.

The woman was met by state health officials after flying into Austin-Bergstrom International Airport early Wednesday. Her name is being withheld for privacy reasons, the state said.

At the governor’s request, the nurse will be quarantined at her home and will be monitored twice daily by the Texas Department of State Health Services during the 21-day incubation period for Ebola.

Thankfully, Texas and Gov. Perry have common sense and are scientifically literate, unlike New Jersey who locked a nurse in quarantine.

That wasserman-schulz look-a-like should take a look at how a RESPONSIBLE nurse acts.

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

And that’s the way it’s done. She will be cleared without having her name splashed all over the news.

Yeah, she can come here and tell us what it was really like to take care of ebola patients.

Only a forehead scan done by a customs agent showed her to have a fever of 101. When her temp was taken by a medical professional shortly after that her temp was 98.6.

People that have Ebola do not have a 98.6 temp.

Up to 13% of confirmed Ebola patients never run fever at any point. Even until they die from Ebola.

I believe the Dr. in NY who recently came home from W. Africa and came down with Ebola was not running a temp at first. While he rode in a taxi and the subways, went out to eat and went bowling, he finally felt fatigued and then was diagnosed with Ebola. Thanks a lot, Doc. What part of that does this nurse not understand? Her attitude is arrogant and selfish, and most professionals would gladly “do no harm” until cleared by quarantine.

If she wishes to expose herself to disease to help others, more power to her, but she should have the decency to follow the rules and spare others. It's all about her, “look at me, I'm special”.

You said that much better than I could. Thank you.

This lady is kind of coo coo imho.

She has been in a totally ravaged country. She knows what it looks like. So what if we take an abundance of caution here to keep things under control. Maybe she is right and things don’t spread that way. Who cares?? Why take the risk.

I asked myself how I would feel about a quarantine. If I had the risk of infecting family and friends and maybe putting them in quarantine, maybe putting my pets at the risk of quarantine or worse...and maybe having all my stuff destroyed....yeah, I think I’ll stay in a hospital.

(and I say that as one that can’t stay away from home without crying.)

It’s not like it’s for months...it is 21 days.
