Houston announced Wednesday that it will withdraw the subpoenas of sermons from five pastors who publicly opposed an ordinance banning discrimination against gay and transgender residents, The Houston Chronicle reported.
"I didn't do this to satisfy them," Mayor Annise Parker said, referring to critics of the subpoenas. "I did it because it was not serving Houston."

This is nothing more than a “before the election” stall. The dems are probably feeling the heat.
She’s gone in 15?
The left never gives up
“Gaaaaaaaaak!! Please just stop sending me Bibles!”
If she'd just put the transgender restroom issue to citizen vote, that'd take care of the lawsuit against the City as well.
Homos used to be fine with live and let live now they demand we accept their sinful lifestyle.
Thatz jus gay...
“If she’d just put the transgender restroom issue to citizen vote, that’d take care of the lawsuit against the City as well. “
If she gave a rat’s ass about what the majority of citizen voters wanted she wouldn’t be a Gay-Agenda-Leftist.
Yes!
Gideons are so hated...
that is why she waited to push though this special legislation - she knew the black churches in Houston would oppose this
Agree about the vote, but the article in this thread and others I’ve read clearly indicate to me that she does not want to deal with the hassle and expense of defending her indefensible “bathroom” ordinance. It constantly amazes me how often these libs try to ignore the Constitution.
What a — sheesh. Where does she go from here? Ready for Hillary?
What? This fascist totalitarian hasn’t been removed from office?
I am so old that I remember when Texas was less liberal than San Francisco.
Bawk bawk bawk ...
The only thing worse than a liberal bully is a liberal bully coward. But I repeat myself ... repeatedly.
The next fascist to try this kind of gestapo strongarming should face criminal charges, withdrawal or not. Othrwise, they’ll just keep pushing on the fence until it gives way.
The case was dropped because Houston was made a laughingstock.
My lease is up in nine months. Time to buy a house in Deer Park, La Porte, Channelview. Anyplace but Houston.
Praise God! Maybe the 1st and 4th Amendments still have a chance after all!
I’m not sure if you are aware but one of the most disturbing parts of this ordinance she pushed allows for cross dressing men to use a woman’s restroom! Of course it is discrimination to ask if a man in a woman’s restroom considers himself to be “transgendered” or just a freaking pervert.....so women and children are at risk now, LEGALLY under the guise of being all inclusive, of being attacked in the confines of a ladies restroom.
