However, you do allude to one of the reasons the state has a compelling interest to regulate marriage which is health of posterity. I recall many years ago that before a marriage license was issued a blood test was required for "the RH factor". Regardless of the Judges ruling it does confirm the state has a compelling interest in marriage to prevent diseases like hemophilia in offspring.
