US soldiers under Ebola quarantine in Italy told to go home

Rome, Muharram 05, 1436, October 29, 2014, SPA -- Italy should not allow US soldiers returning from Ebola-stricken Liberia to be quarantined in Italy, the governor of the region that hosts a US army base said in an interview Wednesday, according to dpa.

Since Sunday, 11 soldiers back from active duty in the West African nation have been kept in isolation at the US army base in Vicenza, a town in north-east Italy about 40 kilometers from Venice.

"I am stunned ... Why should we be stuck with these soldiers who are at risk," Veneto President Luca Zaia said in La Repubblica newspaper. --SPA

They are our employees. The Constitution has not been officially taken out of existence.

The defeatism is what allows them to run over us.

History will show that.

REally?

And what about any of this Ebola ‘management’ has been in any way logical?

This was a headline grabber, at least: “Italy to House Ebola Victims”

This from the country that until recently was rescuing migrants from the sea, way above and beyond the international protocols, and allowing the hundreds of thousands to continue onward into the rest of Europe.

The man has a valid point.

Why not quarantine them HERE?

PS - The question was rhetorical. I KNOW why he does not want to quarantine them here.

If the Italians throw the US military out, so much the better.

Another win/win for maoist waste of skin.

Well I guess that’s an “oops” for me. Been really busy with work and only managed to watch Brett or Greta briefly.

The striking thing about this is most of those military people have or will have no direct involvement in patient care, but the Italians are still afraid they might be infected and want them out and gone. OTOH, POTUS Obola thinks it’s wrong to quarantine Ebola workers, like the vile nurse, who’ve had direct, intimate contact with highly infectious patients and are the most likely people to get infected and spreaed the disease to others.

I have been laid up, and stuck in the house. I guess I am a little more up on the news this week. Unfortunately, hardly any of it is good news.

Did not intend to be snarky. I should go medicate.

“I guess this is more payback from emperor Hussain. Ya see, Italy invaded a few nations in Africa circa 1935 and this is payback I guess. He probably was told to not send them to his favorite target, England so Italy was a close second.”

Even worse, Columbus was Italian, giving Obola a triple reason for doing this.

So far, I think these complaints are from local or regional officials. I wonder if there might be divisions on this issue between regional and national officials in Italy as there are here.

It’ll be interesting if and when we hear from national Italian officials.

I don’t blame the Italians. Quarantining troops at Vicenza, a satellite city of Venice, would be like quarantining them on Long Island. It’s hardly a remote location for isolating large numbers of potentially infected troops.

We have eight aid workers etc. In Michigan under quarantine (heard on radio this morning - good source but not.mainstream)- and no media outlets are mentioning. The poor voters should not be troubled by such distractions from the Koch brothers, unionbusters, homophobes, and gun nut shootings.

Keeping ebola quarantines off the radar and not telling voters what their new insurance rates will be are election strategies. Let’s hope John Q Public will not be fooled, but my faith in Mr.Public has been diminishing for years, and that faith is diminished even more when I see videos like this.

Who is Joe Biden? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTCXR8uaCHg
