Afghanistan: President Obama's abrupt order to withdraw U.S. Marines from Helmand province with zero fanfare was an ill-fitting exit for U.S. forces after 13 years of sacrifice in the war's bloodiest theater. Is this the thanks they get?
No public acknowledgment from the White House. No official statements. No praise for extraordinary dedication or heroism. No proclamations of valor. And certainly nothing about victory.
Just a surprise order to abandon the two largest and most dangerous outposts of America's longest war, Camp Leatherneck and British-led Camp Bastion, side-by-side bases that at one time housed 40,000. The order came so fast that the Marines who had been there 13 years, and who put so much into it, didn't have "time to digest it," as one told the Wall Street Journal.
Because over the years, as the rest of us went about our daily lives, these courageous men and women were out on patrols in the baking sun over desolate badlands, suffering long separations from loved ones and enduring the alternating boredom and terror of combat with a depraved, Dark Age enemy and its drug lord allies.
Some of the bloodiest battles were waged in Helmand. The U.S. lost more than 350 in combat there and the British about 450, nearly a fifth of the war's total losses. Meanwhile, the injured returned home to bureaucratic insult, as they sought help from a behemoth Veterans Administration that Obama vowed to reform but didn't.

I don’t know..I’m just using the captions they have under them for the most part...that’s what it said...
I can’t believe the difficulty in finding our troops pictures for this event...didn’t we have even any news agencies there??? It’s God awful I’ve got to say...I really do hate this administration...
Betrayal. Wait until after the election. zero will show his true colors.
I know you're trying. I'm slowly scrolling down through every image you're posting.
I have seen the name 'Reuters' on the thread. Isn't that an American news outfit? If Reuters was there, you know they got thousands of pictures. Only reason they wouldn't have put as many out, has got to have something with protecting Obama from shame.
Thank you for putting these images here of all the warriors. God bless every one of them, no matter their nationality.
For the life of me, I still can't understand how that man can be in the position he's in, and still not find some small ounce of love in his heart for this great country.
I visited the Mall in DC just once in my life, and I was in complete awe of the majesty of America. This man lives there every day, and has been given a gift of intimacy with our nation's most precious landmarks and treasures that few others will ever know.
And still he hates us.
Damn Obama. Damn him to hell.
The msm won’t cover it any how. Iraq’s already yesterday’s news.
Reuters leans toward Russia a lot....and Russia’s pretty mad at us now so I’ll check further to see what they have...thanks.
Excellent post....very well stated.
Yes. Yes. He does hate us, he and his whole coven. Unfortunately the worst is yet to come. He will inflict far more damage before he is done.
He will try, and that will likely be his undoing.
The country as a whole has had it with Obama. His approval ratings are in the toilet, which is why Dems running for election are putting major distance between him and themselves. Heck, they won't even admit to voting for him on camera. He's that loathed by the people, and the politicians know it.
With the Senate swinging over to the GOP next month, he's going to have a harder time exercising the powers of his imperial pen and phone.
We may not think much of the Repukes, but they're now going to be on the spot to stop Obama's reckless overreaches and executive thrashing of the Constitution.
He'd really better watch it, or he's going to push the American people to a place none of us wants to go.
