In theory that means that the Senate could refuse to recognize the MS election results and refuse to seat Cochrane. It takes a simple majority.

Good info, thanks. I agree, I don’t see that happening either, but I could see incessantly hounding him, keeping him from key committee appointments, and otherwise making it very uncomfortable for him and anyone else thinking of resorting to the low-life tactics that got him re-elected.
If we are fortunate to win a clear majority and win the Presidency in 2016, we should find a way to harass him into resigning. At his age, it might not take much.
