There has never been a question that a person with Ebola and showing symptoms who coughs or sneezes fluid directly into your mouth or eyes from short range could give you Ebola. That is NOT the definition of an airborne disease. Yes tiny droplets of the disease are in the air for moments, but that is not the definition any more than the definition is Duncan has the disease and flies on a plane in the air so since he is airborne ebola is airborne.

Airborne = “The discharged microbes[or virus] REMAIN SUSPENDED in the air on dust particles”

Airborne - A person with said airborne disease spends a half hour in a room coughing. You come in fifteen minutes later, and spend time in the room and you can catch the disease. If it is NOT airborne, like Ebola, in that same scenario you could NOT catch the disease.

The CDC link was meant to explain that Ebola is NOT airborne, but some people just don’t get it.

What is the difference the way Ebola spreads compared to the Flu or the Common Cold that infects many people every year?

No it wasn’t, but you are right, some people REALLY don’t get it

I think people do get it. CDC just said you CAN get it through the air. The distinction you point out is an important one for epidemiologists, but not for the public at large.

So let me ask you... would you go into a room without any protection where an Eobla patient was being treated, sit somewhere where you were not at risk of coming in contact with vomit, blood, or diarrhea, and remain breathing the room air without any sort of mask or filter for 2 hours?

I would not. And I would not blame anyone else who would not, either.

My daughter is a Registered Nurse working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at a major academic hospital in our state. Her unit has been designated as the pediatric Ebola center for the state. Our state is likely to be one of the ones where Ebola presents, due to travel patterns from Africa. Do you really think we should be comforted by the CDC's poster?

It's easy to sit back and get frustrated by people who "just don't get it", but when you're on the front line, and it becomes more real to you, then things look a little different.

I’m sorry if the official definition of a word does not help your argument that’s it not airborne. You have me laughing over here.

Anyway how is this not the same as the flu or the common cold that infects many people every year?

Look you can spin ALL YOU WANT. You have yet to convince me.

Plus if it’s so safe like you are saying, even though almost 5,000 people are dead, then why are 30 countries, such as the UK, Saudi Arabia, France, Russia, China, Japan, Nigeria, etc..., are banning people from the Ebola stricken countries???
