A nurse who recently returned from West Africa and was quarantined for the past three days in a tent behind a New Jersey hospital despite having no symptoms associated with Ebola will be allowed to return home to serve out the rest of her mandatory quarantine.
Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, in a brief interview, said that he expected her to be transferred Monday morning after doctors and federal officials signed off on the plan.
The treatment of the nurse, Kaci Hickox, has drawn withering criticism from both public health officials and the nurse herself. Ms. Hickox lives in Fort Kent, Me.
Im hopeful that this morning if all goes well well be able to release her and send her back to Maine, Mr. Christie said.
Ms. Hickox called her treatment inhumane and castigated Governor Christie for saying she was obviously ill when she displayed no symptoms of Ebola.
It appears that theyre intending to release her but I have not yet been able to confirm it, said Steven Hyman, a lawyer representing Ms. Hickox. Im waiting to hear back from the attorney general.

Just heard her on the radio - she has a high voice, is whiny and started sobbing like Pat Schroeder on a crying jag. I’m still laughing. But she’s off to liberal Maine so I no longer care!
We should sue her for putting us at risk. Anyone know a good lawyer?
Once more Obama whistles and Christie assumes the kneeling position and presents his big blue butt-tocks.
I'd prefer to quarantine somewhere warmer though, like Aruba or Belize. And I'll need cigars.
Hope she sneezes on a lib.
And, seriously, if she develops the disease, who is going to have egg on their face?
Eeewwwww, Cov!
I imagine all the fleabag motels in Maine will be full of mediots by tomorrow....ravenous for an “exclusive” interview with their new hero.
Thank you. Of course, politics are more important than the health and safety of us peasants. If more people die, it will be time to take up the pitchforks and head to the White House.
Well, I give Christie credit for holding out for a Xerox of a grainy selfie of the Boss before capitulating.
NOT!
Rumor in DC is he had the belly band done to make bending over easier, but that’s just rumor.
Double EEEEEWWWWWW! Is that band working, btw? He still looks as big as a house.

Bloomberg just ran a piece on this and the doc they interviewed was towing the cdc line. Kept saying we can’t stigmatize people going to Africa because that is the raging fire and it needs to be fought and a few embers landing here are nothing to worry about. I am thinking, some fires just need people to stand back and burn themselves out. The doc referred to the folks traveling to Africa as heroes. I am not sure I would call them that, but I would not think a hero would disregard public safety on their return like these folks do.
Yeah, but it’s more like a downsized house now, not a Big Mac mansion.
Three weeks in a plastic tent in Newark, New Jersey? In late October and November?
The US wouldn't treat captured terrorists like that. It's certainly prudent for her to be quarantined for 21 days, but governments -- federal, state and local -- are demonstrating a gigantic cluster**** here. Not only are they completely unprepared and clueless, but they are completely clueless as to how unprepared and clueless they really are. The gov't response to Ebola scares me a lot more than Ebola.
I’ll be happy when he’s the size of a micro-apartment and just blows away.
Oh great. Now I’ll have “Watermelon Man” running thru my head all day.
;>)
I would certainly like to know what is so "heroic" about a "plague without borders" CDC hack shagging her butt to Africa, putting on a big show of "helping Ebola victims," and then whining about "unscientific" measures being taken here at home to protect her fellow Americans from contracting this deadly plague.
It has ever been the hallmark of Marxist strategy to manipulate people into feeling "guilty" vis a vis their "conscientization" twaddle.
Let's not suck for it this time.
